Did not use it to tap new threads, but appears the quality of tool would allow you to do the job. Used it to re-tap some existing threads. Worked for that job.

The 1/4-28 taps received do not match the listings picture and cannot tap close to the bottom of a blind hole. I dislike the lack of effort on the sellers part to produce an accurate listing causing extra work on my end. Buying a new product just to have another project modifying it or returning to delay the schedule in a production environment is not worth it.

they worked well

ordered 2 sets one set had 2 starters and a bottom, the second one only had one tap in it what a joke would give less than one star if that was an option.
