Versatile
I have used the yeast in a variety of wines and meads with good results it ferments quickly and drops out of suspension very easily. ABV% tolerance is around 15% which is the strongest I've brewed to, I believe stated is 14%. A very clean yeast reliable, I'd recommend any brewer to keep a stock of this yeast due to its versatility.

Good for making mead.
I used this for making mead. Much better than the Young's super wine yeast I tried before(less yeasty flavours) I still have to experiment more before I can fully guage which is the best mead yeast.

With Covid, we tried to make our own home made mead. We tried with regular bread yeast, until we read about this special yeast (from Canada!). It made the best mead ever!

Brewing time wasn’t as long as usual. Very strong yeast and generally clear up without needing tons of filtering or chemical

I ordered D-47 yeast in good faith to make mead. When I received my order I I made up two gallons of must and innoculated it with the D-47. Three days later there was zero activity, so I took a sample of the must out of the carbon and innoculated that with a second packet of D-47. 24 hours later there was again no activity. That’s when i checked the expiration date, which I should have done when I received the shipment, the packets were expired a year ago. I have a few packets of Red Star yeast, so I innoculated the must with that and 24 hours later it is happily bubbling away.
