Didn't even know about ferrules until recently. They work great for attaching wiring to electronic devices where you would normally just stick the wires in a tighten a screw. Much better connection. Very easy to use and will last a long time.

I have a variety on marine electronics and 12v electrical equipment that use wire insertion terminations. Some of this marine equipment gets removed for winter layup which requires multiple disconnections and reconnections causing wire stands to break and fray. Crimping wire ferrules onto the stripped bare wire ends makes the installation much neater, provides protection for the wire strands, provides for positive contact and makes it easier to install / uninstall circuits into the connection clamps of the various equipment. I have also found that using wire end ferrules when doing home electrical installations (speaker, low voltage distribution panels, etc) makes a much neater and more secure installation. I have added a variety of ferrule sizes along with the appropriate crimping tools to my electrical kit.
