Hard Way (A Jon Reznick Thriller Book 4)

I Bought Four of Them so Not Bad but...
Any negativity is probably my own fault for reading books 2-4 almost back to back. Jon Reznick follows in the footsteps of all the other well-trained, ex-forces turned troubled souls. He fights and kills a lot and survives against all odds just like Jason Bourne, Ethan Hunt, Jack Reacher et al – you think they could team up and help out the Avengers or JLA.The stories are entertaining, if largely implausible: an older generation Ripping Yarns. What bugged me most after reading three in a row is that most of the characters have moments like the slow fade in films where they relive previous moments in their lives and are then ‘jolted’ back to the present. Almost all of them.In the later books, not only do they drift off into reverie but the characters start ‘blowing out’ their cheeks. Now, given that Jon is ex-Delta forces and able to get his hands on all sorts of weaponry, my first thought was that he mistook Semtex for his chewing gum, but even non-Delta force people were doing it too so it was not a cunning terrorist device; but I still do not really get what blowing out your cheeks is all about… slow fade to alternative Michael Caine quote as Jon Resnick shoots someone in the head. “You were only supposed to blow his bloody cheeks out”.And jolted back into the now: niggles aside, the books are a good enough read - I bought four of them (99p each, Kindle) - but the trouble with Resnick and similar characters is that you know they are going to win, no matter what they are up against for as long as there is another book in the offing.

One of the best books I have read this year! "And I have read loads!"
Having read all three books prior to this one book 4 I was expecting something special and that is exactly what I got!A fast well written intricate storyline that grips you from the first page and although it sounds lame you can’t put the book aside or down because you want to just turn another page.....If you haven’t read any of Mr J B Turners book before I highly recommend you to read the other books preferably before this book, but it can be read as a one off story albeit you miss some of the connections within the book.Jon Reznick is a guy who goes it alone and doesn’t play by the rules to get the job done. However when FBI Assistant director Martha Meyerstein is kidnapped Jon who is a renegade black ops specialist and friend of Martha may be the only one able to rescue her and save her life. With all the usual twists and turns one would expect from a brilliant writer this is a sure must have read. The only disappointment I had with the book was getting to the end and not having the next book to read!

Adequate thriller.
Not wonderfully written but not bad either. To be able to tolerate Turner you need to ignore some writing defects. Sometimes I think the author does it deliberately to annoy the readers or maybe a bet with a drinking friend to see how far he can push our tolerance before we reject him. Characters in his books are constantly "blowing out their cheeks" and saying "you are kidding me or you are joking" until it makes me want to blow out my cheeks and scream "the author must be kidding me". The author's plots are ok and the dialog is adequate. One day he may be a good writer if his characters stop blowing out their cheeks.

Fanyastic
Once again another fantastic read. Gripping, and full of deceit, spies and assassins. From the outset I was hooked. Reznick has become my hero now. His relationship with the FBI assistant director of the FBI Martha Meyestein. Is bringing out the best in both these characters. Making this book even more suspenseful as the previous 3 in this series. The detail the author puts into his writing really brings each page to life. As a reader I feel as if I'm right there in the action with Reznick. With the FBI, CIA and other agencies of national security and defence. It opens you up into a world you know exists but never truly think about. Yet, we All are under their scrutiny 24/7 375 days a year. In every country around the world. It really intrigues me. Hence why I truly love these books, these characters and now this very talented author. My recommendation is even if you don't normally like thrillers, suspense stories etc. These books won't disappoint you. Give them a read and I promise you will be hooked from the very first page of book 1.

A great read
Just a brief review. It's an excellent, no nonsense, no unecesarry waffle read. You'll know if you like this type of book. If so don't hesitate. However if you don't like this type of book, don't buy it and then complain!!I've read the series now, although very similar plot type is still a good read.

I enjoyed the1st three books reading them back to back
The book was slow to start with then picked up towards the middle and the end. I enjoyed the1st three books reading them back to back. Having read this one the plot is the same and sad to say they are begining to seem like they are one and the same book--. For those who have not read any of J.B.Turner's books before give them a try and see for your self.

Another good read
I have been working my way through this series and have found them all enjoyable. There is a story line that is strong and intriguing with plenty of little side stories that are part of the main story. The one thing I would say is that it is starting to get a little repetitive with the CIA in non patriotic roles, I guess, depending on your preception. Still I did enjoy it and have the last book still to read.

Pulls You In
I read the Job Reznick series because we read for pleasure and this series, like the Reacher and Hope series pulls you in.Fast paced, good characters, good stories that's all we really need and this one, the 4th in the series, has them all. The books are each stand alone stories and can be read our of sequence so give them a go, you'll enjoy them.
