Q: Is it possible to save the file in a better format than AVI, less compressed?

The supplied Cyberview S8 software only saves as an AVI file. I thought there should be a better way to save the scan. However the compression is not a problem as AVI is not a codec, merely a container for the file, and it can easily be converted to H264 or H265 using Cyberlink's Director Suite 5. The Cyberlink suite contains Color Director 5, which I found invaluable for producing a very fine quality scan with Kodak K40 and 100D film. Hope this helps. Bill Wood

Q: Will it take 400foot spools on the arms?

Yes, it will take a 400ft spool of film on its arms. It will even take a 600ft reel of Kodak K49 film. Bill Wood
