All it needs is a lanyard ring...
I have tested and reviewed a number of EDC flashlights over the past months and this one is quite nice. It is the smallest of the ones I have tested and has the widest field of illumination. The magnetic base is very powerful and will easily hold the light, even in high wind or movement. My only complaint about the light is that it should have come with a lanyard ring so that a tether could be attached to it.The light arrived well packaged with the light and battery in protective wrapping. The battery had a secondary protective wrapping on it as well. The USB-C charging cable was also in a protective wrap. It's a nice small light. As I wrote earlier, the only addition or improvement that I would make is to add a ring for a lanyard.

OK for casual use; not so great for EDC or a pack
I really wanted to like this flashlight. I've been happy with other Philips products, found them durable and reasonably priced. Not so impressed with this one. It has very good brightness, no issue there. Battery duration is good, ran it over the stated 2 hrs - on high the whole time. Does not get more than just warm to the touch. The size is ok. It's short and stubby, not too heavy - but it's a bit thick for carrying comfortably in a pants pocket. Like carrying a short roll of quarters - my pref is more like dime to nickel size diameter. It is very sturdy, has a small protective ring around the front of the lens. Also has a flat tail, so easy to stand up, and tail is magnetic (moderate strength, won't hold if your mounting surface gets bumped much). The water-resist is provided by a (silicon?) rubber plug, seats well in its mount so should work pretty well to seal against all but immersion. In addition to the 3 regular levels, there are also strobe and SOS modes. It has no memory - switch cycles low-medium-high-strobe-sos-off. But if you leave it on for a few seconds, a simple click turns it off, no need to cycle through any modes. Philips states 1 year warranty and 12 hour customer service; had no need to try either. Now the not so hot. The USB charge port is pretty deeply set into the body; I could not get several of my 'regular' usb cables to plug in, including putting a USB extender on - the body access hole is just too small. The cable that is supplied with the light worked fine, but it's a negative IMHO if you can't just grab any USB cable to use just for charging. Like many of these Chin*s* flashlights, the button is recessed and in the dark feels a lot like the charging port, so fumbling for the button will happen. The light is very bright for the first 10-15% of battery, then dies off as the battery drains (no surprise, but don't expect full brightness for 2 hours); not a big deal, it's still pretty bright. A big gripe for me is that they call this an 'EDC outdoor portable tactical flashlight'. But there is no way to attach the light to anything (other than the magnetic tail). No lanyard, not even a lanyard hole, no clip, nothing. So if you carry (as for EDC) in a pocket and want to grab it fast, plan to dig through the stuff in your pocket or reserve a pocket just for this light. All the other EDC I've used provide at least a lanyard hole - I'm happy to provide my own paracord lanyard. But there's no real way to attach to this guy. So - 3.5 stars except that it gets a 1/2 star for being sturdy and having what I believe is a 'real' warranty. YMMV

Solid design execution – Controls are confusing – Expensive
Phillips is a well-known electronics company so one can expect excellence in their EDC flashlight. You get this, but with an asterisk. The flashlight fits in your hand and easily fits in one’s pocket. It has one switch which steps through the lighting settings: low/medium/high/strobe/SOS. If you keep the switch pressed for 5 seconds on any setting, the next click shuts the flashlight off. Charging is via a USB port that is protected by a silicone plug. With the discovery of digital circuits, flashlights now have a plethora of lighting settings. This is not all good. With the Phillips, the user is not going to remember the 5-second switch bypass when he needs to use the flashlight. Even if he did, it does not really save much time. The next great development in flashlights is the use of multiple switches. One for light on/off. Another switch for all the other lighting settings that you don’t really use.The Phillips EDC flashlight is well constructed and is fabricated from stout aluminum. Getting to first light requires the battery to be removed and its outer plastic wrapping removed. It has a magnetic base that allows it to hang from steel objects. From its diminutive size, it emits a bright light that is equal to the 4D Mag Light of a generation ago.The Phillips has no holes for lanyards. It is forever a creature that lives in your pocket or bag. Its cylindrical design means it can roll away and drop into inaccessible places. A simple lanyard would solve this problem. This flashlight is pricey for what it offers. Chinese flashlights offer the same performance at lower prices. I also encountered a problem with the silicone plug on the recharge port. The plug is circular with a long stem that is trapped within the flashlight. The plug fell out and could not be reattached. I reached out to Phillips Customer Service. Three people passed the buck to another Phillips group. At the end, I was stuck with a phone number that was dead.I give this flashlight a C+ rating.

Small, bright, with decent throw >>>>>>>>>>>>
Small light approx 3.25 inches long and about 1 1/8 inch diameter. At the brightest setting 2500 lumens seems accurate. Light throw is about 100 yards. Strong magnetic base. Easy to charge with USB-C. Great as a EDC light.

Great size and solid bright light!
There is so much to love about this little flash light. It is small and compact which allows it to take it anywhere in any bag. It is also bright enough for most uses with a pretty long lasting battery. One of the best features is the magnet that allows attachment to most metal surfaces - it's great when you need a light and your hands.Highly recommend!
