Essential Italian Grammar

I've just had a brief look through it .I needed it as I have a limited knowledge of English grammar so this explains key cc concepts .I bought it on the recommendation of Steve Kaufman of Lingq

Lots of ground covered in a small book but would recommend it as a quick reference.

If you just want to get a firm understanding of the language or do not want to get into the more academic intricacies of Italian grammar right away, this book will suit you quite well. It has the advantages of simplicity and good organization, taking you through articles, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, verbs etc. at a nice easy pace with some good vocabulary to learn along the way. The referencing and indexing of the sections of the book make referring back to areas for a reread quite easy. This book will definitely give you a nice start in Italian or enhance any skills you have already in a quick read.

A bit more schematic than the normal in this series, but it covers the basic ground. I wish there were more examples than there are.

I like this book so well that I purchased a replacement one when my original was lost. It's not an Italian lesson book, but a very comprehensive grammar guide. It's very small and unpretentious, but covers all the necessary grammar needed for basic Italian. I read through it occasionally just as a review, but mostly use it to look up a preposition or answer a specific question. It's pretty easy to use and, for what it is, it can't be beat. What it is -- is a supplemental grammar guide. If you buy it for that purpose, you won't be disappointed.

This little book is an old one with a shiny new cover. I've been using this book for decades to introduce Italian to beginners. It's very clearly organized; it's no nonsense. It's great as a reference. Although the colloquial Italian that travelers hear nowadays when traveling to Italy, watching TV or movies, has become less formal, literary and formal Italian hasn't changed that much since this book's first publication.It's also reasonably priced. Viva l"Essential Italian Grammar"!
