I would guess that it would leave a defused surface that would lose the sheen of glass and give it a foggy appearance. But it definitely would be hydrophobic! Try it on a piece old of glass first. Better yet use is a gloss version. **Q: Can I layer it?** A: If your careful, it applies very evenly and shouldn't need additional coats.
