Nice projects. Good instructions
I have checked out this book from my library several time and finally decided to buy. My loom has been out of commission for a while but now ready to get going with some projects.

Nice addition to my weaving library
In addition to the designs included in this book there are helpful discussions on things like choosing spacing for drape, planning stripes, designing garments. I also enjoyed biographical pages about various weaving artists.

Some great ideas for weavers who sew
I love sewing and weaving, especially saori style, and am always on the lookout for great ideas. Simple tabards, vests, skirts, tops and coats are best when they have few seams, shaping or chopping up the yardage. I like to utilize almost every inch of my handspun handwoven fabric. The author includes a lot of supplementary information about planning your weave, and I found most of this info more inspiring than the patterns themselves.I bought this used for a low price, so I don't mind, but I do wish the designs were more artistic.

Inspiring and beautifully illustrated
Well explained in text and illustrations, this is a guide to producing the reader's individual creations based on the projects and inspired by the weaver profiles that are presented. It is suitable for beginning and more advanced weavers.

Designs look a bit dated
The best parts of this book are the little essays by veteran handweavers who focus on clothing. I learned quite a bit from their descriptions of their processes, and by looking at the pictures of their work. The main part of the book, though, is a series of designs for handwoven clothing for the reader to make. These pieces look quite dated to me. Handwoven clothing has come a long way since the 1970s, and you can see that in the "pro" sections of the book, but the projects for the reader to make do not reflect this sophistication.I checked this book out of my library to peruse, but I probably would not buy it.

The differences in yarns.
I like all the information about yarns for weaving while giving the best yarns to use for different projects. I also like all the different projects to complete. It would be nice to have a page with the abbreviations and their descriptions listed for easy search.

Updated Patterns for Weaving
I got this book because I wanted more inspiration and ideas on how to use the fabric I create on my loom. A previous review mentioned that the patterns are updates of what's been done before. I believe that's true. I took out several garment books from my local guild - they were printed in the 60's and 70's and the patterns were very dated. So this book's patterns are on a similar theme but are much more modern looking. The book starts off with weaving and sewing equipment, materials and reading drafts. Most of the patterns can also be woven with a rigid heddle loom. Types of yarn and yarn construction are covered (woolen worsted, boucle, loop, etc.)Patterns - there's about 17 starting boa, a lovely ribbon scarf and a blue Mobius. One of my favourites is a peach and raspberry striped wrap that I can't wait to make. The cover photo is a purple poncho. The sherbet shrug is finely woven with elegant sleeves. There are a couple vests, a sweater, a tabard (nice) and a couple scarves. My second favourite is a blue and gray jacket which would look really nice with slacks or jeans.Weaving and finishing techniques are covered. There are some designer garment photos. The patterns for them are not included (I didn't really care too much for many of those garments anyway).I think a beginner weaver (like me) would be satisfied with this book. A more experienced weaver may need more challenge than the patterns provided in this book.

Nutzloses Buch
Ich habe mir von diesem Buch wirklich etwas anderes vorgstellt. Es handelt sich hier um keine schöne Ästhetik und keine innovativen Ideen.
