Very soft and comfortable. It's not tight or firm enough to completely hold up my head (especially since I have a longer neck), while my friend said it was perfect. I found if I prop it up by putting a hoodie underneath it, then it props up my head enough to fall asleep. I was able to sleep for a few hours on a flight, and my neck would have gotten sore by then without a pillow. Easily packs up small with a good quality zipper case.
