Know what your buying first...
Reasonably well made although the dovetail joints shown in the products image are in fact not dovetail joints but basic butt joints held together with glue and pins. Despite this, it clearly serves its purpose well, holding a large amount of salt and I can see how, in a commercial environment, the quality of the box might get a pass but for a home kitchen the finishing does leave a little to be desired. Perhaps a bit of sandpaper might remedy this but for £19.20 (at the time of purchase) I simply cannot recommend this product. I will be returning it.I should also mention that the plastic shrink wrap it comes packaged in states that the product is made in China although personally this does not bother me.

Not quite there with the design!
It’s a sturdy box and great for use as a salt cellar or similar. My only complaint is that with the high back (for fixing to a wall if required) the lid does not stay open on its own which is annoying, especially when busy cooking. Can and probably will saw off the high back as only need it for counter top, but shouldn’t have to do that, given the price.

Salt Box
How do you review a simple thing like a wooden salt box you may ask - its made of wood, it holds salt, its big enough to get either your hand or a spoon in as required. It can be fixed to the wall in a convienient place (as required). it was delivered on time and ready to use - just perfect!! Of course these days it depends on how you view salt, if like me you think it is important in the kitchen then something like this is extremely important, if on the other hand you are one of those "faddy cooks" it probably isn't (I'd still get one for when the "fad" changes). this particular box is probably one of the better ones - nice and simple with nothing to break!

Neat
Having recently been recommended to take epsom salt baths (they're detoxifying and relaxing) I needed something in which to store the epsom salts. It's a bad idea to use glass near the bath, just in case you knock it off and have shards of hard-to-see glass all over the place, so inspiration struck and I thought of a salt box. It's just as it appears in the illustration - to a lover of treen it would be a treat! - and perfect for the job. In fact it looks a sight better than the salt jar I have in the kitchen - which looks like a piece of ceramic drainpipe! - so I'm considering buying another one. If I had one quibble it would be that the lid doesn't stay open but perhaps that's a good idea anyway.

A bit disappointed in quality
Kept it as works well for the purpose intended, but not as nice in quality as in picture. Nails used instead of a joint wooden corners, some glue leftovers and splinters visible... Was really happy about its size though!

Perfect salt box
Good size. Holds a full packet of sea salt easily. Stands right by the hob for easy access and doesn't take up a lot of room. Seems well-made with brass hinges and the lid stays up when you need to get inside for some salt (ie it doesn't flap back onto your hand)

Useful.
Very useful in the kitchen.

Salt Box
Wanted a proper 'chefie' salt box. This fills the bill and is easier to use than opening cardboard boxes and spilling salt all over. Highly recommended.
