How do these compare, soundwise, to eh m50x or m50x bt?

I have both the 700bt and m50xbt. The m50xBT is more solidly constructed since it's based on the original m50x and has a bit more Bass. They each have their place which is why I have both. I use the 700BT when I'm working in front of a computer and going to wear them for longer periods of time as I feel they're more comfortable than the 50 and they're lighter. Also keep in mind the 700bt have noise cancelling which allows you to eliminate many distractions. The 50BT are my go to when I want some good sound and don't want to worry about keeping them in a case and tossing them around and so forth. Both have great battery life. The 700bt can also fold a bit smaller.

Does the noise-cancelling work without music?

No, the noise cancellation is pretty much completely ineffective unless you're using audio, at which point you are just masking sounds with volume like any pair of headphones.

How long does it take to fully recharge it?

According to the user manual included in the package, it takes about 6 hours to recharge from 0% to 100%

Can anyone comment on the microphone and how clearly others can hear you when on a call?

Microphone quality is ok, not as clear as a regular phone mic but it works as intended. Probably not the best choice if you plan on using it all the time but as a once in a while thing to make calls it’s alright.
