Looks and Feels Expensive
I just love this gown. I am really surprised by the quality of the fabric and the craftsmanship. The blue is the correct PhD blue and the gold piping really looks nice. The cuffs on the sleeves really sets this apart. The fabric is a light weight and not too thin. It does run a little large in the body area but I would not order a smaller size since it fits across the shoulder per the sizing chart. I just think its cut to be large in the body regardless of the size. But it really is nice and looks as expensive as the custom ones that cost near a $1,000 especially if you order a gown with piping like this one has.

Well made, although....
This gown is well made, not cheap, in terms of its fabric, its weight, its stitching, etc. I don't love the tight band of fabric around my forearm or the way this puffs out the already-puffy sleeves, mainly because of how hot the tight part will be in May and how gigantic the upper sleeves look on me. I got the shortest gown (I'm 5' in height) because I had visions of any gown I got dragging the floor or needing alterations (yay, more money). I will say that the length is perfectly fine on me. The VOLUME, on the other hand, is insane. I am not a thin person but, wow, I could fit three of me in this gown. Look, it's not that big a deal, really, because I only have to wear this thing one afternoon a year. It beats paying higher and higher rental fees for regalia. I got the hood and tam on Amazon, too, separately and only spent about $140 for the entire rig, including this gown. I may, in the future, have the gown taken in or I may just find my inner Zen at looking like a short wide wizard in front of a crowd of strangers who are not even looking at me in a sea of other black-robed humans. I'm OK with this purchase and can recommend the gown.

Not for Juris Doctor/JD/Law
THIS IS NOT PURPLEIf you are a law school graduate/JD this is not the robe for you. The Juris Doctor degree is purple. This is a rose color. This color does not represent the juris doctor degree.I needed a gown for an academic event, I ordered this. I did not wear it because it did not represent my discipline. I did not attend the event because of this and am highly disappointed.People with doctorates work hard to achieve their degrees. Lesson learned: You get what you pay for. I paid for my degree in both money and hard work. I will order a gown (expensive) from a vendor who respects academia and who will make sure that I have a gown that represents my discipline and accomplishments.

Very nice for the price, sleeves a little tight.
This is a nice graduation robe. At least as good as the rental versions, and probably comparable to the ones from other 'name brand' regalia companies. As other reviewers have mentioned, the inner sleeves have an odd tightness, but it's a stretchy elastic band around the mid forearm area so there is flexibility. I have big arms, and the sleeve band tightness is acceptable, though not fully comfortable. Good enough for a couple hours once a year. Otherwise I'm very pleased with the quality, especially given the price. I am 6'3" ish, and the size 60 is a good length, a little above the ankles.

Great value and quality for a very low cost! I'm quite pleased...
Excellent product. Looks great. I am a university professor and have used/seen many regalia over the years. For the price, this is an outstanding value! I saved at least $200 by purchasing this instead of using the services of other companies. One of the other reviewers is correct in that the gown comes with a strange, "damp basement" odor, but some Febreeze and letting it hang outside in the sunlight will easily alleviate this issue. It's a great value. The chevrons look suspect in the item photo, but they look great in reality, as does the piping. Quality for a ridiculously low price. I almost opted for the $175 gown with more reviews, but am glad I took a chance on this instead. I ended up spending the difference on a nice hood.
