Good Reference
I am researching Art from Ancient Greece up to the Middle Ages and this and a number of other books in the same series make great references and give you a solid foundation to move on from. We have the wonder of the Web to help us find out all sorts of things but the skill there is in "asking the right questions" if you are to avoid being taken off on a wild goose chase. In this sense, books like this give you a better "context" to discover things from.

I am writing this review without having delved into reading this book just yet. I need it for my class so I bought it. The images look lovely and I like the size as I often read on the go and appreciate an art history book that is not huge and heavy. However, when I opened the package the cover was creased, as someone who adores her art history books I was devastated. I ordered this new and was not expecting that. The book was packed fairly well so I’m sure this happened well before delivery or being in transit. But I am looking forward to reading in more detail.

Excellent book on early medieval art. Great images most in colour. Printed by Oxford University Press as part of an introduction to art history. I find it to be a real go-to with my questions. Top marks!

The author approaches what could be a rather dry subject in a manner that makes it approachable for someone who isn't necessarily a PhD. I couldn't get enough of the photographs of the gorgeous art objects. I think anyone seeking a better understanding of this under-appreciated period in art history would enjoy it.

Downloading this book on my Kindle Fire as opposed to buying the textbook was not only cheaper but more convenient. The pictures are great and the book allows you to zoom in to see detail which is unique. I like how you can highlight passages and use the search feature to find terms. The only problem I have is that there are no page numbers so when we are given an assignment I have to compare to a physical copy of the book.
