I have often admired Van Duysen's work in magazines and was excited to discover a book on his work.However I was really quite disappointed with the content of the book.I was expecting to see plenty of photographs fully showing the domestic interiors,but in many cases there are only two or three photographs illustrating the interiors of the homes featured.In some instances the text describes a feature or room but this is not illustrated.I have found that most magazine articles and even web picture searches provide greater coverage of Van Duysen's residential interiors.The use of black and white photography seems excessive and for me did nothing to convey the simple richness of Van Duysen's work.Given the pedigree of the publisher,Thames and Hudson,and the quality of,for example their publication on the work of interior designer Christian Liaigre,I found this book lacking.
