INNOVA Star Mamba 160-165g

I’m a 62 year old player who has stunk up golf parks for the last twenty years. Prior to the Mamba my favorite drivers were a Star 174g Avenger SS and a Champion 168g Monarch, previous to that a Beast, Valkyrie and Orion. Over the past seven years I have noticed a steady decline in my driving distances. Although I remain fairly flexible, I notice that I cannot get the whip action out of my hips and shoulders that I previously could. With a good rip I had been getting about 275’ – 300’ with my Avenger SS and Monarch. I favor Star and Champion plastic and there was practically no disk that I could turn over reliably except an old DX Stingray.I saw the Mamba and thought I’d give it a try. I ordered the disc and received a 161g which is a little less weight than I normally throw. Love it! I regularly get 15’- 25’ more than I was getting from my other drivers on equal throws. I’m getting back within putting range on holes that I haven’t been able to reach in the past five years.My golf buddies, all younger guys with cannons for arms, noticed the extra distance and inquired as to what kind of disc I was throwing. Their interest seemed to wane when they heard it was a Mamba because of the disc’s under stable rating and girly man reputation. That said, several of them also carry Avenger SS’s in their bags and maybe it’s the Star plastic but my Mamba is slightly more over stable than either of my other two drivers especially the Avenger SS and it flies farther with more predictable low speed fade back. I liked it so much I went home the first afternoon and ordered a second disc as a backup. Now if I could just find a magic putter I’d be back in the game.

I'm an amateur frolf player. This has been my go-to driver as I have been improving my driving power. It's so stable it's ridiculous. It will making long distance back hand throws seem fairly easy for players looking to improve their distance. Lots of air-time, very broad speed range of stable flight, not a particularly fast disc but it feels very precise and stable in flight without needing very much power. I can get about 350 feet out of this disc and compared to my others (Wraith, Roadrunner, Destroyer, Beast) that's about an extra 25-50 feet. With a bit of practice I should be able to extend that out another 50 feet, because as I add more power on this disc I noticed it does turn over at high speeds pretty easily, and once it turns a bit, it reaches that very wide stability speed range and just sticks there.Star plastic = amazing for durability. Trees, rocks, asphalt, no problem. Not a scratch.

Fast right turning driver, puts down amazing distance. Comfortable to throw, great feel.
