Great little fan but needs a extra power source (blue wire) Buy an aftermarket remote.
This is a great little fan which has 4 speeds. Light kit comes with it. Be advised that it needs a blue wire extra power source usually in newer homes. If you do not have a separate blue wire you can purchase a remote. Keep your original switch and use the remote. I bought this remote and it worked perfectly. (YUKIHALU Small Size Universal Ceiling Fan Remote Control kit, ETL&FCC Listed, Beep ON/Off Setting, Wireless Remote Controls with Timingby YukiHalu) Great little fan for a small office or even a closet. Only 26 inch diameter fan which is perfect for a small room. Don't expect a bright light but the led is fine for a small room and does not generate a lot of heat.

How is it possible the Minka-Aire remote doesn't work with this Minka-Aire fan?
I should have read the reviews in detail. There were a few people who called this out. Shame on me. Two things:1. Amazon will pair this fan and this remote as something "Frequently purchased together". Apparently their algorithms are not aware the Minka Aire universal remote doesn't work with a Minka Aire fan.2. How on earth does Minka Aire make a fan that doesn't work with their own remote? As a temporary solution, I am using a 15 year old Hunter Fan remote (from the fan I was replacing) and made it work. What yoiu say? The Minka Aire remote won't work with the Minka Aire famn BUT the 15 year old Hunter Fan remote works with the brand new Minka Aire fan? Yes!The fan itself seems OK. It is small - which is what I need. But Minka Aire needs to get their act together. And at least INFORM Amazon those products should not be purchased together!

Amazing Functionality. Beautiful Design. Great Deal Found at Amazon Warehouse.
This is a Heavy Duty Fan. It is well built, small and heavy.I installed this fan at a location that only had wiring for a simple light.I had to use Wiremold channels and boxes, and some THHN wires to complete the project. My original set up only had: a neutral (white), a hot (black), and a ground (green) wires at the ceiling box.I had to add the following THHN wires:Blue: to connect blue from control switch to Blue from fan.Black: to connect Black from control switch to Black from fan.Black/White (I used some white electrical tape at the ends of Black THHN wire to distinguish it) to connect Black/White from control switch to Black from ceiling box.The White wire from fan was connected to the neutral (white) wire from ceiling box.Made all ground connections.I had to connect the wires that were connected to my original light switch together to close the circuit, one of these was black, and the other one white (but, this is not a neutral). There was no Neutral wire in my original light switch box (but, it wasn't needed).Minka-Aire provides a booklet with very clear instructions and diagrams to install your fan. However, if you need additional wires, that is something you must do on your own (or hire a professional).Side Note:If you decide doing the project on your own: turn off the circuit breaker powering your intended work area, use stranded wire (it is easier to maneuver, compared to solid wire), I would use 12 AWG wire (larger diameter compared to 14 AWG), as a safety measure, as the light intensity of the fan's lamp is adjustable, also make sure you buy the Wiremold ceiling box intended to support a ceiling fan (this is marked on the package, and is more expensive); the Minka-Aire control wall switch has a considerable depth, thus, I had to use the deepest “1 gang” box Wiremold sells. You would also need at least 4 support clips for your wire channel sections, and also Wiiremold elbow to allow you to connect the Wiremold channel sections from wall to ceiling. And last, but, not least, wirenuts and electrical tape to connect the wires.Be careful after cutting Wiremold channels, wear gloves and use a “fine” metal file to smooth the sharp edges.I just want to share one observation: Wiremold boxes and elbows provide solid support points for Wiremold channel sections, using an elbow to connect the ceiling & wall sections is key, because the elbow needs to be attached at the corner where there’s usually a beam or stud.End of Side Note. After all the work was done, the results are very pleasing. The dimmable LED light is very nice, in this particular model the light has a warm tone. What attracted me to this model from Minka-Aire was the Energy Rating: $6/year for 3 hours of daily use.$6 would be the average cost of electricity used, but, the actual cost would be higher, you must add the supply charge, and all additional fees from the electrical Co.I bought this fan at the Amazon Warehouse for ~$90 + tax, a great deal, considering the retail price.
