Fantastic High-Quality Mechanical Pencil!
I had one of these many years ago, and I’m happy to say the quality is just as excellent today as it was back then. This is the “shaker” version of the Dr. Grip pencil—some reviewers seemed confused about the noise or the metal piece inside, but that’s actually part of the design. Just give the pencil a shake, and it pushes the lead forward for you—no need to press the top every time! Super convenient, smooth writing, and built to last. Highly recommend!

So comfortable to write with
I like a mechanical pencil but so many of them have very thin bodies and are hard on my hands when I'm writing for long periods of time. This is SO COMFY to hold and write with. It has a cool feature of shaking it to advance the lead, but I'm used to clicking so I don't usually use that. The eraser is a little small, but this is true for 95% of all mechanical pencils. I just get a mechanical eraser. :)

(Shake Shake Shake) Shake Your Booty
Who amongst you remember that song from KC And The Sunshine Band? I suspect a lot of people researching this pencil will fall into that geriatric crowd (as do I ). I lost my beloved Dr. Grip pencil from many years ago so I set out on a quest to find another. None available in the retail stores but no worries Amazon to the rescue. I found this pencil after minimal searching. It looked slightly different because the grip was not as large (diameter) and not nearly as flared at the end. And what's "this shake to advance the lead"? Sounds like a gimmick. Nevertheless, I decided to give it a try. Upon receipt the first thing I noticed was the standard blister pack but everything printed on it was in Japanese! Was this not designed to marketed in the U.S.? After opening I compared it to what I remembered about my original. It was noticeably lighter. I didn't mind this because you could probably use it longer without your hand cramping, But does this mean cheaper components and possible shorter lifespan? Only time will tell. I had my original for 20 years. I didn't like the change to the actual grip. I thought the original was easier to hold due to the aforementioned larger size and larger flare of the grip. Another victim of cost cutting I assume. Also the eraser is a LOT smaller than the original, harder to find and way more expensive. You would do well to have the chalk holder style of eraser nearby. Now what about the main feature, the shake to advance? Surprisingly, this turned out to be quite useful. You don't have to shake it like you are making a martini. Picking it up from the paper and making a slight jabbing motion advances the lead far enough but not too far that it breaks when starting to write again. My preferred lead size is 0.5 and it works just fine with this pencil. You can also get the pencil in 0.7 and 0.9 lead sizes and a variety of colors. I gave it 4 stars because it remains to be seen how it holds up after time. If it does it will be worthy of 5 stars (although I still miss that larger grip).

Looks Good and Easier to Write with Than Thinner Grips
I'm already sold on the pen version of this writing instrument but appreciate being able to get it as a mechanical pencil. The larger grip makes it easier to write when one has pronounced osteoarthritis and the pen looks good.

Must have pencil! ,
I like the color, and ergonomic design. The pencil is good for multiple uses, and would be great for a student who wants a long lasting writing utensil.

Great. Love the fact that you shake to push the lead out. Bought another for my daughter!

書きやすくて、使いやすいです!ですが、フロストレッドは写真で見るような綺麗な赤ではなく、赤系のピンクというような感じの色なので少し注意が必要です
