Rough Country Steering Box Brace for 2003-2008 Ram 2500/3500 4WD - 1074

The kit fit OK but get a helper to help hold things in place while you tighten things up. Appears very well made. Everything lined up fine. Just follow the instructions. Tightened up the steering but the major thing improved was that the kit seems to have taken care of the un-adjustable front wheel camber due to having a live axle with no adjustment provided. Once the kit was installed the pass. front tire appears to have stopped wearing on the outside edge and more back to center as it should be. The only thing I can figure is that this kit has firmed up the frame not allowing for excessive flex. With a diesel engine there is a lot of weight on the front end so I could see the frame going out of spec with mileage and use. I was told that the camber was what it is and only offset ball joints could straighten it out. I am very happy with this outcome. No additional work needed.

Seems to have helped 2005 Ram 2500. Not to hard to install. The only thing I would say is make sure to maintain or grease the bearing. I could see that being an issue if neglected.

I have been driving my 06 Dodge 2500 4x4 since the day I drove it off the lot. It does have a leveling puck up front and had a full front end replacement done at about 90K miles. I really never had the "death wobble" or had a negative view of my steering (I am just use to it). There is no doubt that the steering had slop in it but nothing that really made me feel like it was dangerous or was difficult to deal with. Towing heavy travel trailer and now 162k miles of mostly Hwy use I noticed some nocking in my steering (clunk clunk when moving the wheel from side to side). Sure enough it's the steering box and yes it's time to replace it (pretty common for these solid axle trucks and it is no surprise). I figured I would go ahead a place this steering box gusset and just see what kind of difference it would make with steering box that has a little slop. I am not going to go crazy like some reviews but I will say. Wow! What a difference in the "steering wheel play". Steering is more responsive for sure. If I could quantify it I would probably say 30% more responsive???? Yes the steering box definitely needs replacing and that will be next on the list (I know, should have done that first but I wanted to see how this product worked with an old steering box). What is even more impressive is the 40min it took me to install it and the quality of this product. Worth the extra money I would say over some of the other cheaper products on Amazon. Completely boxed steel vs just a piece of stamped angle which is what most, if not all of the cheaper products are. Spend the money and get this American made product. It's Extremely well made!

I ordered this to hopefully help remove any possibility of ever getting the death wobble again although I have lifetime parts for my steering and ball joints so hopefully it helps keep them in better shape. The cost is a little much compared to other brands but it says there is a lifetime warranty. Got one for 70 dollar for a 99 dodge ram that was built and welded just as good.

I had experienced some really bad "Driving Miss Daisy" while in the mountains from Vegas to Williams AZ and started reading more about 2nd Gen dodge rams and the loose/poor steering. I found a few youtube videos and articles describing the install of a Steering Gear Box Stabilizer bar and luckily found this product. I ordered it right away and installed it imediately when I received it. Immediately it removed the dead spot at 11-1 or the "bump steer" that people complain about. Now there is no more play in the steering. It drove great over the last week since it was installed. Also I pull a 33ft 5th wheel and this part totally changed the steering for the better. Great Investment. Also it was super easy to install. Just need a huge socket or a very large adjustable wrench.

It is very solid using thick wall square tubing and the welds were heavy and smooth. Installation was easy using one jack stand to hold the sway bar up close to the frame. The pinion bearing collar others have you install and tighten after is actually part of the bearing on this unit making it one piece and better control. The new pinion nut is larger and beefier than the others. The downside is I live in a smaller city and it took longer to find a adjustable wrench (15" Harbor Freight) to fit the new pinion nut than to install the unit and you have to guess the torque pressure. RC should either enclose a socket to fit or offer to sell you the socket (deep wall 1 3/4" or 45mm) when you buy the kit. Most home DIY mechanics don't have a deep socket over 1 1/2".

It was easy to install, but I recommend two people make the job easier. All the pieces fit exactly without any changes or mods. So far, it has worked flawlessly. The vehicle tracks well now and doesn’t wander at higher speeds. I have put approximately 2000 miles on the vehicle since installation and it appears to he functioning good. Time will tell if it was a good investment.
