It uses one AAA battery and it is one of the brightest I have used up to now. It does appear to be a 365nm and not a 295nm light as there is no purple light in normal conditions but does read bank notes in most lighting conditions and also detects counterfeit notes. It does not have a torch built in but for only £2.45 including p&p, it seems to be quite well made and is well worth the money. I did expect it to be cheap and nasty but I really don't think it is. It is definitely a five star product but how long it lasts, time will tell.
