For the price, this thing is amazing
I took this with me to Europe, where I interviewed artists and attendees at a heavy metal festival. This device was supposed to be just the backup audio. However, it captured sound more consistently and faithfully than the $200 cardioid mic of my camera. Further, it's not too finicky regarding the placement: just angle it toward whoever is speaking, and if there are multiple people in that direction, it will pick up them all. Then with just a bit of EQ in the editing phase, the sound is great on the resultant videos. Further, the the device is so small and slim that it's easy and comfortable to slip into a pants pocket or small pocket of a camera bag. I jostled it around in a camera bag for two days, and it took no harm. So I suppose it's fairly sturdy. My one complaint is that it comes with (as I recall) either no instructions or simply not very helpful ones, and the device's controls are *not* intuitive. You'll need quickly to learn how to avoid deleting things accidentally, for example. All that having been said, you're not going to find a recorder that's comparable to this one in sound quality, sound sensitivity, portability, or durability through a music store for under $100, and most range from $300-$400. For the price (around $25 when I got it) this is a fairly amazing little recorder.

Great device for capturing Birds calls!
I’ve bought 4 of these in 2025 and they’re great and awesome but I only have one left because 3 of them were under a porch and indirect rain ruined them:( but I still like them—I use them to listen to birds. I set them up in different areas and set the time from 6am-11am (when birds are a chirping)! They are voice activated so it only captures sounds made which I need. Having the voice activated device saves me hours of listening. I will buy more definitely! I also want to add that I use a sandwich bag to protect the device if rain is in the forecast— works great!

Microphone quality is bad enough to affect functionality.
For 30$, it is a good product. However, the microphone recording quality is bad enough to affect its useability. It is still useable, to be sure. And I did not expect it to match the recording quality of an iphone which may cost over 20x the price. This recorder is not at all "a scam". However, the recording quality is quite bad. I confirmed that it was not the speaker, because the device comes pre-loaded with recordings from the manufacturer, saying "thank you and check out our website". That audio plays with good quality. All audios I recorded myself, from various angles and distances, all sounded blown out. Not quite as bad as the intercom at a fast food restaurant, but nearly that bad. And to be clear, I am not a musician. I got this to take voice memos without using my phone. For 30$ with 64GB of storage and a rechargeable battery, this product would do fine. But I am in a place where I can spend a bit more to get a better recording quality. Even for "functional" use, such as voice notes to yourself, the quality of the microphone is bad enough that it will affect this use case. Not a lot, but enough to make it hard to discern certain words. I assumed in 2026, that a very good voice recorder could be had for this price. I did not bother doing product research. I will do other research and see how competing products do. If I find one under 50$ that is "great" quality, I will update this review. If the "great" one costs more than 50$, I will leave this review as-is

Ideal recorder for great price
Very impressed with this recorder. Takes a little to get used to the buttons but otherwise it’s really practical, small, lightweight, and the battery life has surprisingly lasted longer than expected. It uses USB-C to connect to my laptop & easily uploads your files. Great value for the money. I would recommend this recorder Tip: follow the instructions & turn the settings up high to get fantastic performance However it still works well normal settings.

Button Mechanism Failed After 2 Months – Hoping Manufacturer Will Address This
I purchased the EVISTR L357 64GB voice recorder to use for lectures and meetings. On paper it looks like a great value with large storage and many positive reviews. Unfortunately my experience has been disappointing. After about two months of normal use, one of the main buttons stopped working. The recorder was not dropped or mishandled. It was simply used for starting and stopping recordings. For context, I work with computers and electronics and have experience repairing devices. After the button failed, I opened the recorder to inspect the issue. The internal plastic actuator that presses the switch had broken. The outer button still appears normal, but it no longer presses the internal switch, making the device essentially unusable. The electronics themselves still work. If I press the tiny switch directly on the board with a tool, the recorder functions normally. This suggests the failure is due to a weak mechanical button design rather than electronic failure. The recording quality and storage are acceptable for the price, but a recorder’s buttons are its most critical component. When that fails after only a couple of months, it raises serious concerns about durability. If the manufacturer sees this review, I would appreciate hearing from them and I would be happy to update this review if the issue is addressed.

Really love this. Easy to use, took less then 5 minutes to figure out how to use it and I didn’t even look at the instructions. Sound is great and pick up everything really well. Perfect size, easy to carry in your pocket or bag. So useful in lectures.
