Excellence in a product
What can I say? When this product was delivered, my anticipation was running rampant. I must admit, during the deboxing process, and once I caught my first glimpse, I broke down hysterically crying. The memories of the past, the history of a once great franchise, I was back in 1983, Memorial Stadium, Jim Palmer,(Boddicker, McGregor, Flanagan) Brooks Robinson, Eddie Murray (33), Al Bumbry, Ken Singleton, Rick F'n Dempsey, and a young promising prospect. Cal Ripken, Jr., Achieved the greatest accomplishment of the sport, winning the World Series Championship. The team was so much to me, being a transient family from some river bottom in western Kentucky, it gave me pride to be an Oriole. I will always be an Oriole, and proud to be an Oriole. Even though Mr. Angelos turned a $153 million 1993 investment into now a $1.63 Billion franchise, it has never been the same, and was never better than the Motley Crue if '83 Orioles that won it all. what's that? You ask about the tears, why? It's very simple, if you must ask. It's about The Man, a man who managed the club for nearly 15 years, who retired the season prior to the '83 World Series Champions,. The man and reason I cried, the baseball legend whos farts - his farts- knows more about the game and the hustle than even the most vetted professionals. Earl Weaver, manager, wasn't able to kiss the trophy. The change achieved the resukts, for the 83 season, but within a decade, the franchise was, and has been, just a facade for money, and hasist the championship attitude and swagger they had. It's not about the uniform, it's about the people. But as an Oriole, a fan, it's all about the Bird, man.
