Is this OK to use on a wooden fire place where I have hung Christmas decorations

If its varnished id try it on a hidden bit first. ive used it on clear varnished wooden doors but id try it first to be sure :)

Is this product a liquid or does it look more like a jelly?

The last time I used the product it was more liquid than gel
