The ultimate Steam Deck accessory I didn't know I needed.
I am a content creator, and I tend to want to document any games or project that I take on in some form or fashion. Being able to tap the dock and record everything I have going on is incredible! And just being able to utilize 4k60 with the dock is incredible as well!

Doesnt fit
If your steam deck has a case, it won't work. I tried the legion go too and it doesnt fit im not sure if I'm doing it wrong. However, the item is functional. I have tried a,couple of avermedia products before in the Philippines. One of them is already 5 years old and still works so im sure this one will as well.

Flickers from time to time
The picture cuts out very briefly depending on what it’s connected to and which mode it is in. I’m using the correct hdmi cord for it and giving it 100w power delivery fwiw

Cool for streamers/recording
Love the built-in recording, love the pass thru streaming, frankly I love it as a dock. I've tested a lot of cheaper docks and didn't notice what I was putting up with until I tried this one. (Less odd resolution handling for one. Not having a headphone jack for another). The streaming or recording takes a bit of learning to figure out... I struggled a bit initially as I didn't realize my micro SD was messed up and needed to be reformatted. Once I got past that I was golden. Simply hit the button to record- or you can stream it to the PC for use on twitch and the like. The portables may not be the most popular stream machines, but they do make great baseline PC's and I could see this sort of function working for the right host. Maybe me? ;) I do wish it worked with a NVME or other external media. Although you can take control of that via the pass thru. You may also be able to use it as an USB screen recorder but I haven't tried that- the USB dock functionality works with PC/Windows just as well as the Steamdeck.

A Powerful Dock with Lots of Functionality
The AVerMedia Steam Deck Dock, is a fully-featured piece of kit for our favorite portable gaming console. It's also the first one I've owned that supports 4K@60Hz which is a nice bump up from 1080P. I like the build quality and the fact that you can record on-the-go without a PC necessary. I've owned other products from this company, so I was not surprised that they hit it out of the park again with this one. The AVerMedia X'TRA GO GC515 Steam Deck Dock, is the one dock to rule them all. I'm very pleased with this unit.

Poorly engineered-limited controller support
What doesn’t make sense to me is this device is simply a capture card for handheld gaming devices, specifically marketed for the Steam Deck and ROG Ally, MSI Claw, Legion Go. All of which are essentially handheld PCs. However, in order to stream you still need another PC which a laptop or desktop these days are much more capable streaming devices. So, for $200 you can get an exceptional capture card or get a capable card for less and simply steam with a PC.Second complaint, this docking station has limited support for controllers. Exclusively wired controllers do not work. For the life of me, I don’t get that. It does support wired controllers with wireless capabilities. To make it worse, this docking station only has 2 USB ports which are intended for use with a mouse, keyboard, and microphone. I count three…four if you include the controller. I realize all the devices can be connected to your PC, but that leaves me still wondering, what is the point of this thing? The docking station was a very tight fit for my Steam Deck with glass screen protector. So no case will fit. It also gets pretty hot on the bottom.OBS does recognize this device and I successfully streamed to Twitch via OBS.Overall, if this was a standalone device, it makes more sense. But the way I see it, this is a glorified capture card that holds a handheld device upright. Hard pass.

Versatile
You can use this device as a USB-C dock/hub setup but it also doubles as a capture device with multiple ways to capture. It can record to a memory card to be used standalone with a PC or it can be connected to your PC to use as a video source for livestreaming.
