Way better than Claire’s!
My daughter got her first ear piercing at a piercing studio and it was $156. We went with the Inverness kit for all of her others…so much more affordable!! She says it barely hurt. The earrings look great and it comes with the cleaning solution and everything you need. You can’t beat $20. The kit is easy to use and the piercing device uses hand pressure to pierce not a spring-loaded snap. So, it’s not scary.

Very nice and ready to use for peircing
These are beautiful and come packed in the cassette, ready for piercing. They work really well for home piercing and it's very simple. Not one problem with infection or pain using Inverness.

Worked well
Silver earrings were inside as desired and expected, but the box shows gold earrings. I initially thought they were gold because it isn’t easy to see the earrings without ruining sterility by taking the earrings out of the cartridge. I actually used Inverness titanium earrings that I purchased separately, because my ears tolerate them better than any other material (especially when a piercing is new or healing). My ears are very sensitive. I’ve found that how much they react (and how long they take to heal) has to do with the earring metal/quality AND the quality of the piercing itself. During this cycle of trying to get pierced ears, I first tried piercing using a piercing needle. Unfortunately, I didn’t get it through in one go on one ear so didn’t make a clean, smooth hole. That ear gave me so much trouble that I just let the hole close up to try again. Next, I used a gun-style piercer. It was quick, but loud; the earring posts were too thick and earrings were poor quality. I had to swap those earrings out; healing had stalled because my ears were reacting poorly (I also didn’t want extra large holes). Healing is now progressing but slowly. OTOH, the holes I pierced using this kit (but with the Inverness titanium earrings) have not given me any trouble: no redness, no swelling, no pain, no bleeding, no exudate. I’ve never had a piercing give me so little trouble. I followed the instructions and used the included antiseptic wash frequently.

Get what you pay for
I’ve had my earlobes re-pierced twice and I wanted a cheaper alternative to a professional this time and found this. They look gorgeous on my ears BUT, it was only $20, so you get a $20 experience. So for $20 you get the marker, earrings, gun, ear cleaner, gloves- it’s a great deal for so cheap, so I expected it to have a catch and it did. My first piercing I did, my ear got stuck to the back of the gun. I managed to get free with my family’s help and afterwards we found a release mechanism since the earring back didn’t come out of the gun. My second piercing, my ear got stuck to the front of the gun and so we looked at the cartridge from the first piercing and found another release mechanism and pried it open with tweezers. That aside, it’s a great for so little money, I have no ear irritation as of right now, and it looks super pretty. I missed the mark on my second ear because the gun makes it really hard to see and line it up if you’re doing it to yourself, I recommend having help nearby in case your ear gets stuck like mine did. All in all, I would recommend this if you want the cheap route but I do recommend having someone nearby whether to pierce your ears for you so it lines up with the dots, or to help you if your ear gets stuck to the gun

I’d buy it again
I bought this kit to save a lot on getting my 8 year old daughter’s ears pierced. The kit had everything needed, and I was able to do an excellent job fairly smoothly. I may not have squeezed the gun fast enough in my hesitation to avoid misplacing the earring, which probably increased her pain, and I did have a small difficulty with the earring back releasing automatically from the cartridge, but that was easily fixed without pulling on her ear. All in all I’d use the kit again.

Ear piercing kit
Fantastic. We had to do one of the plungers 3 times before we got it to push the earring through my ear. The piece that holds the earring kept going in at an angle so it didn’t reach the back of the earring and didn’t go through my ear. My son in law managed to finagle it to go straight the third time and I have pierced ears. I got the titanium earrings and I haven’t had any problems. I am highly allergic to nickel.
