Sturdy, high quality drum set with amazing sound
It sounds ok straight out of the box. you may need to tweak a few things. It is a pro quality kit with individual input/output instead of a snake cable. Hihat works fine. The drum rack is super solid - hardly any vibration/movement when playing. You will have to buy drum pedal and hihat stand separately.Upgrading firmware (v1.5) has made the kit load times fast enough to become usable. There is still a latency of about 2 seconds when switching between kits. The drum module in itself is outstanding. Cymbals don't have natural swing unlike Roland kits.Bought it for my 7 year old kid. We were able to set it up for his reach easily - sliding snare a bit under the tom :) and mounting the toms closer to each other. With the reduced price now, it is a good deal.Updated: after 10 months of use. Ride cymbal suddenly stopped working. Don't know how to get support either as Alesis support doesn't seem robust. Have raised an online support ticket for in warranty repair. Fingers crossed for a reply.Update: no support. Tried multiple routes. Risky to buy it online

The full package..
Very nice drum. I had a bit of difficulty to set the hi-hat, but after a firmware update and some trial and error, now it work fine. I bought a 6' X 4' Drum mat, and it fits right on it; for those of you who would like to know the approximate size when assembled.

Probably the best electronic drum kit I've used
Probably the best electronic drum kit I've used. First off, the kit looks amazing - if you care a lot about appearance, you'll likely be happy. The drum heads feel amazing, better than my previous (real) drums by far, and are incredibly responsive - at least as good or better than the V-Drum mesh heads. The cymbals feel fantastic - you can hit them as hard as a real cymbal and not feel like you're going to smash them. And finally the sounds are excellent, with tons of fun kits built-in. My favourite is 33 "Rocker Man" by far, sounds almost exactly like my ideal kit!The software is still moving pretty fast, so make sure you've upgraded to the latest firmware. Also, the Hi-Hat can be a little sketchy sometimes, especially during rapid open-close sequences, but this has been steadily improving with each software release. Every other head/sensor works excellently, including the choke feature which is a major selling point for me.All-told, this kit is an amazing bargain - for $3000 you get a kit that is, in my opinion, better than a V-Drum kit of 3x the price. You surely won't be disappointed! For a demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk8tr6jkdRc

They fixed the shells!
A lot of reviews and videos online mention the older build of the shells, the snare in particular having some pretty serious design flaws. Namely wires tensioned ready to break and a very flimsy plate for the piezo. They have now changed them, the wires sit freely with enough slack, and the plate is now thicker and feels more substantial. The hi hat is still an issue, but ordering the replacement from Go E drum for 70 bucks is almost a no brainer and improves the pedal response immensely. All in all it was a very expensive kit for me, but I have been very happy with it so far.

The Best HIGH-End E-Kit on the market, no question
Im a beginner drummer, and I decided to invest on a drum that i could dedicate myself into and I chose this one. The best decision I ever made. Also, I do not think it's fair to give this thing such a low rating just for some things that can be fixed in the module itself. This is in my opinion, the best kit you could get for the "bang for your buck" kind of thing. As i said Im a beginner, and I spent all day learning about how this thing works and how to play around the module. A lot of things can be tweaked and play around there to get the sound you want. If you want to invest on a high-end drums and you dont want to spend a ridiculous amount of money, THIS IS IT!

Excellent Quality - Well Worth the Money
These drums are not cheap but they are worth every penny. I am very impressed with the sound and the numbers of different sets that are included. I haven't done the module update yet but based on everything I have read, it will make the set even more powerful. I love the mesh heads, my wife can't hear them in the next room if I use the headphones. I would recommend these drums to anyone.
