Be Cautious!!!!
Good one. But the sensing stainless steel needle is designed to withstand the higher heat not the body of the display/control unit. In-fact its melting if you keep it there. Of course, it'll take time to read the correct temperature so it has to be in the pot/vessel if you were to read the heat of a boiling liquid (e.g. milk). Other than this problem, it is doing its duty well. I would recommend this but you have to be cautious that the sensor needle only can handle the heat NOT THE BODY. (don't think that i dipped the body into the hot liquid & writing this review. Use your sense & imagine that during measuring, the sensing needle has to be inside the hot liquid and the body have to be just above it. So, though the body is in air, still the temperature around there is considerably hot & the sensor body have to face it). Or may be you could use it only to measure the temperature of the meat like things:)

Ok product. Nothing exceptional.
The reaction time is too much. You have to wait some time to get the proper reading.

The only thing I don't like is the slow speed and the time taken for ...
Seems accurate. Boiling water shows 100°. The inside of a grilling chicken showed 80° whereas I was aiming for around 70°. Guess the thermometer was showing the right temperature because the chicken turned out to be slightly dry and overcooked. Works for checking room and air temperature too unlike what some reviewers and Answers here say. So you can use it to test the temperature inside your fridge and freezer too.The only thing I don't like is the slow speed and the time taken for it to show the correct temperature, like the mercury body thermometers we used to use. That can be extremely inconvenient sometimes. e.g. I had to stop the rotisserie spinning when I was grilling my chicken to take its temperature. The oven lost a lot of heat during that time. But considering the price I still think it's a 5 star product.A tip - Before using this to test cooking meat temperature, boil some water on the stove and dip the thermometer in it till it reaches around 80-90°. Then quickly insert this in the meat. It will then display the meat temperature much quicker than it would have starting from room temperature.Hope that helps.

Works Good.
takes a bit longer to display, but gets the job done. I use it to check the bbq temp. works well.

Slow and unpredictable
Well, the cover states a temperature range of -50°c to 300°c and accuracy of 1°c either way.The first thing you notice is it takes a hell lot of time to arrive a fixed temperature. Maybe close to 3 minutes, and the results were unreliable.I checked it against some constant temperatures in aware of. Self temperature showed 92°F whereas my actual temperature is about 97°F. Next it went into the freezer. It showed a temperature range of -10 to +7 over 3 minutes, with no constant temperature. Hmm, time to go into hot water. Direct dip into hot water have very ambiguous results, around 60-80 degrees depending on maybe steam flow along the steel rod also. So, for more reliability, I boiled water and immediately poured it into a Thermos flask. Temperature reading went upto 90°c over few minutes, when we know boiling water is 100°c. Temperature wavered over 0.2°c every 5 seconds or so.Finally, I'm prepared to return it 🙄. Good riddance to a shady device. At least 5% accuracy is expected.

functional and very reasonably priced.
I like to drink warm water. Now I can achieve the warmness of my liking. No need to judge by touching. You can avoid soiling your hands as well. For this price it is a very good gadget. Let us hope it will last for a reasonable time.

You get what you pay for
The thermometer is quite accurate but it takes a long time to display the temperature. For barbecue chicken, for example, it takes about 30 seconds for it to display the actual inside temperature of the chicken. However, the price was decent and i am satisfied.
