Not for me but that's just a preference. Otherwise good quality.
I love fish and thought I'd love this. I eat pretty much everything having a French Mom and being an experienced traveler. I lived in Scotland growing up and find haggis to be delicious. I have yet to find a food I just can't tolerate. Until now...I really wanted to like these but no matter how many times I try to nibble on a piece of this salty dried smelt, i just can't get over the pungent aroma and flavor. I would say what the smell reminds me of but I won't. The smell lingers and my husband smells it even when I moved the container to the pantry. Not a big turn on apparently. But I am not from the Philippines and this is something tasty in that culture. If I'd grown up eating Jeprox I'd probably find this very appealing. So I can't rate low just because it's not something I enjoy since it is what it says it is: dried, salted smelt. If you are familiar with Jeprox I recommend this product. If you are like me and think there is no food is not palatable and you'll find this inevitably tasty, take caution. Like haggis which I grew up eating in the lunchroom cafeteria... not everyone will appreciate quite as much as me. :)

Stinky goodness!
I grew up eating all the stinky goodness, dried fish, fermented shrimp paste, and more so I'm no stranger to Jeprox. In the Philippines we like to mix funky with sour and sweet things to add umami and this goes perfect with some eggs and rice, with tomatoes, vinegar, shallots and garlic on the side for breakfast. I know my cousin actually breaks it up into pieces onto her chomporado which is basically melted chocolate with coconut milk (usually) over rice. This container is so large, I decided I'm going to have to try to make some garlic chili oil as they're similar to anchovies, but not as soft, but more fine and chewy. My breath stinks so good!

Not for me
I was very curious to try these, but they definitely aren't for me. They have a very very strong fish smell, you can smell them through the package, and the fish is so dry it's hard to take bites, I have to rip it apart with my teeth using a lot of force. Then the fish just tastes like some wood/paper, it's very hard to chew. I think I was expecting something a little more like jerky, I'm not sure. Some friends tried them with me and had the same experience and feedback too.

Great acquired taste and fresh dried
Great dried fish that can be hard to get used to the taste and smell. Once acquired, it's a delightful treat that will get you wanting more. It is perfectly seasoned and has the nice texture since it is dried. It's perfect for parties since you can easily share it as well. It is easy to open and close with the seal. Perfect quality and great ingredients used.

Crisp and fresh
I received “Rudca Food Premium Dried Salted Jeprox - Authentic Filipino Delicacy, Pure Indonesian Smelt 'Ikan Teri' - High Protein, Healthy Seafood Snack - 5.3 oz / 150 g (Pack of 1).” It has a very strong smell, even while it’s still sealed in a bag inside its sealed plastic container. It has an expiration date more than a year in the future. It has a lot of sodium, 45% of the daily recommended value in only 30 g of fish. It also contains 20 g of protein for the same serving size. It’s very well dried, and it has tons of flavor. It’s crisp and delicious.

Dried fish
This dried fish wasn’t for me. I don’t know what I was expecting, but this wasn’t it. It’s not like fish jerky, which I’ve had and love- it’s more like fish paper. It’s packed well and seems fresh, but i don’t know what to do with it. I tried it out of the pack and it’s like eating tough fish flavored construction paper. I enjoy a variety of foods, and I’m always down to try something new- but these were not something I’d try again or recommend.

Good-quality dried salted jeprox
This dried salted jeprox comes sealed in a clear bag inside a plastic clamshell container, shrink-wrapped. The quality seems good. They are thin fillets of smelt with the bone-in. Heavily salted and desiccated for preservation. You'll need to cook them first. I use the easiest recipe which is to deep fry them to a golden brown. They are tasty, crispy and crunchy, albeit heavy on the sodium. Best serve with rice. You can also add them to your stir-fry, soups, etc. as a fish stock seasoning.Overall, a good-quality dried salted jeprox. The ingredients are just smelt fillets and salt. No additives or preservatives. Mine has a best before date of 09/2025. The packaging is BPA-free. Product of Indonesia.

Fishy
The dried fish is not for everyone, if you are sensitive to fishy smells, this is not for you. But since I like dry fish for a healthy snack, this is great. Lovely flavor with a good flavor of saltness and also tasted fresh. The box itself is pretty big, it will last awhile for 1 person.
