Ken follett ,as usual given us a wonderful well woven story. One feels as if one walked-climbed, struggled along with Ellis and Jane trying to cross the snow peaked high mountains. One becomes a part of this narrative Enjoyed

Touche
‘Follett’s command of the vast forces he unleashes is as impressive as the battle strategies of his generals, and in many cases more so . . . Overall Follett is masterly in conveying so much drama and historical information so vividly’ Scotsman

Ken follet is a genius
I've read many books written by the same writer and much like the others every story is one of a kind...and the plot will not allow you to put down the book even for a second till it's completed!!

A good read. Will keep you guessing through out. Not definitely close to the best by the same author. Great work.

A love story
I have read most of Follett's one was surprised to find "Lie down with Lions." A huge adventure story with nonstop suspense that kept my heart pounding.Beginning in Paris with various protest groups of young people from several countries, the action moves to Afghanistan where a young Doctor and his wife are living in a poor remote village, having been sent by a medical charity to minister to the public and the wounded from the war. I had forgotten that Russia spent several years in Afghanistan attempting to make it into a communist government. The doctor is member of the underground French Communist Party and he is in Afganistan to spy on the guerrillas who are fighting the Russian Army.An American spy, who was the previous lover of the Doctor's wife, is in the country to advise and unite the guerrillas from various groups to defeat the Russian army. From here on, it's a thrilling ride to the end of the book and worth the read of this book written in 1986.

Brilliant Afghanistan
Classic, utterly brilliant Ken Follett, fashioning a wonderfully imaginative story line built around the evil of the Russians and their depravity in Afghanistan.
