Clairol Shimmer Lights Original Shampoo Blonde and Silver 8 oz.

This stuff works wonders! I've been going blonde for about 5 years now. I have naturally almost black (super deep/dark brown) hair that requires a heavy foil, all over color, and tone every 5 weeks. Needless to say, purple shampoo is my best friend. I've tried several brands, some garbage, some amazing. This ranks at the top. #1 will always be Davines Alchemic Conditioner in silver because the deep purple lifts brass and also conditions your hair. Very. Very. Important. Downside it that it's expensive, and I'm not a stripper so I can't afford that life on the regular. #2 Clairol Shimmering Lights Shampoo. It took all of ONE wash to see a significant difference in the yellow hues and brassiness of my hair. The only downfall is that the smell is very... earthy? Think the soap aisle at Whole Foods... or PCC. Or that hippie chick in your class. It isn't terrible, and not enough to deter me from using it regularly between my Davines. I will say though IT IS VERY DRYING. So be sure that you pray to coconut oil Jesus after, or at least use a good conditioner, otherwise your hair will feel gross and you won't like it and you'll be all like,"OMG THIS PRODUCT IS TERRIBLE BECAUSE IT WORKS, BUT I DIDNT READ THE REVIEWS." So, ya welcome. Saved you a step. The suppliers must have taken note from reviews because my bottle arrived with an ungodly amount of packing tape wrapped around the lid to keep it from spilling, which worked. No mess when I opened it. :) Overall, this is totally worth the $9 and you should definitely get it. Oh yeah: - this isn't bleach, it's not going to lift anything. - this isn't a miracle, you still need to use quality products. - this will not stain your hands or tub. - this does burn if you get it in your eye. - it's shampoo. It lathers. - use conditioner. - use conditioner. - use the fricken conditioner.

I recently decided to add golden blonde highlights to my hair after years of staying away from that color (due to the brassiness I had experienced in the past). I had heard about purple shampoo a little after coloring my hair and came across this brand. I was a little skeptical after reading some of the reviews, but decided it would just be best to try it for myself. After three uses, I have found that this product works wonders! It helped tone down the brassiness and left the color looking more subtle (which I love). I have naturally curly hair and was worried this shampoo (it's not paraben and sulfate free) would damage my hair -- all my other hair products are paraben and sulfate free. It did leave my hair a little dried out but as someone else mentioned in a review they left, deep condition after! (Seriously, do it). As a side note, I personally only leave the shampoo in my hair for max 6-7 minutes af a time. I find this method has worked best for my hair.

I really like this stuff! Could tell a difference after 1 use. I use it probably 3 times a week. I have naturally gray hair that was bleached out at one point and this keeps it shiny and the yellow toned out. I agree that the smell is really strong; think over-powdered grandma plus freshly opened kitty litter, but I just follow it with an equally strongly perfumed conditioner that I like and it's not so bad. My hairdresser keeps pushing me to buy her 35$ and up purple shampoo, but this is just as good if not better!! The good results make up for the smell for sure. Will definitely buy again!!

I love my (mostly) female counterparts (all 1,521) that have taken the time to write their reviews here because I read pages and pages before deciding to take the plunge to use a product that says it's for blondes on my lightened usually dark brown hair. But can I say for the record, there are a few too many drama queens that commented on the fragrance - i didn't find it to be like a 'heavy' rose perfume- seriously- it's very mild... I do agree it's lasting see below: Aroma: to Catson Catson Cats who called it "very... earthy? Think the soap aisle at Whole Foods" and "hippie chick in your class" - that probably nails it best... so I just wanted to state for the record to take it any further and dramatize this as either chemical, or old lady or even worse, old age home - is pretty far off the mark. Think rose hips which wasn't my cup of tea either - but is a really mild but lasting fragrance- so use your own (non sulfate) shampoo afterward to rinse out most of that aroma if you don't like the flowery smell and go for the best conditioner you got afterward. It's definitely not chemical nor is it "disgusting"- which would be real turnoff to a lot of people. I say chill and cover with your own. Keratin: Or better yet, since it's your hair and no one else's, you might want to give Pravana's Purple a whirl, because it's sulfate free (no salt detergents) but know that it's twice the price so unless you've got a keratin treatment you are trying to preserve (then you MUST NOT get this) or you plan on using this stuff more than once a week if it's summer time (which I don't plan on doing UNLESS its summer and even then only every 10 days to 2 weeks) AND you are going to use a deep conditioner afterward you really don't need to spend the extra bucks because this works. I am clueless as to why people feel like they need to use this fairly drying shampoo more than once a week or more than twice a month. I used it once and it did what it needed to do for my dark brown lightened to really light with blond highlight now turned brassy from the sun red hair. For those who say it doesn't bleach - no it doesn't - the sun did- but here's the good part- it took away that brassy red and left the golden brown that I was going for so now it's at least light brown with lighter highlights. Till I get to the salon to tone down the summer sun this did the trick! After the fact: Great color .Truly, soft, soft- no purple, like all the stripping agents did their job (I know, that also could mean harsh to hair, maybe, but it feels great, like I just colored my hair fresh). This might not be so bad considering all the hairdressers that use this stuff. Just don't keep dumping bottles of it on your hair- once- twice a month in summer is all you'll need. 4.5 stars because it works, great price. If it smelled beautiful like perfect 10 (great deep conditioner) it would be great. Wear coloring gloves if you have them but the purple rinses out easily. The first pic is after a summer's worth of hard water and sun, the second is after one wash left in about 10 mins. and rinse with a simple boxed hair color conditioner. Treat your hair like a temple and it will worship you back. Good luck!

After using this 3-4 times, my hair has achieved the lighter colour that I've wanted so I am very pleased with the results. Like most toners, it does cause dryness but so does colouring your hair blonde. However I have mitigated this by using a hair mask and deep condition after each wash. This helps moisturise my hair and prevent further breakage. Excellent product and results, definitely recommend buying.

Lo usava mio zio tanti anni fa ed aveva i capelli di un bianco splendente. Tutti mi fanno i complimenti per il colore dei miei capelli e mi chiedono cosa uso. Inoltre non sporca le mani come fanno quasi tutti gli altri shampoo antigiallo che sono in commercio. Molto contenta

I dont really write reviews but bought it on the strength of the reviews this stuff is literally amazing it came quick and a bigger bottle than id ordered it smells nice and is a thick violet color my hair is bleached blonde from very dark brown and when its bleached its canary yellow when ive had toners on its usually doesn't go the white platinum blonde colour i want it to but ive used this twice after both bleachings and its come up with the colour i want the brassy bits are still there but the 'blonder bits' are a whitey platinum colour i usually leave it on for about an hour and hey presto its brilliant beware it may turn a slight lavender hue if left on for a long time but the purple shampoos all do it. Seriously this stuff is amazing i wish i could get a conditioner that could improve the condition of my hair i think the conditioner to this would just help with the colour if any body knows of any would be great if they could share, You wont be disappointed with this
