30L Plastic Fermenter Bucket with Volume Markings, Ideal for Brewing Ales and Lagers

Great and inexpensive fermentation bucket with built in tap. On my third batch of beer now using this and I can see it lasting for a long time to come. I changed the air valve for a different one but only because I happened to have a slightly better quality spare than the one that came with the bucket, purely a personal choice. Ideal purchase for the novice home brewer.

Good product, but had to return because it was too large

I thought this would have a pail type handle, it doesn't. There was nothing in the listing to imply it had a handle, although there are fixtures for a handle on the bucket. The air lock is the cheapest of the cheap and not the one depicted in the listing. The grommet supplied won't fit in the lid as the hole is too small. The airlock just spits water out of the top when it vents so you have to put a tiny amount into it. This leaves little spare for evaporation. The tap supplied is not quite as shown in the listing either. The bucket will not sit on a table without the spout hanging over the edge as the hole drilled in the bucket is slightly too low down. Quite poor really! There are loads of printed text with instructions on the bucket... all in Polish. I can't be bothered to send this back and wait for something else as I want to get my brew underway. I would not buy this again.

I wanted this specifically to 'brew' comfrey leaves into a brilliant plant feed elixir. I have had a similar tub for quite a few years, yet although it has spent winters empty, within my allotment shed, it has turned brittle and cracked. This one looks like a perfect replacement. It is really for wine and beer fermenting, so has a hole in the lid where you place an included silicone like bung and plastic airlock. I gave up trying to fit the bung - it just wouldn't fit the premade hole. This is okay for me because I can just cover the hole with waterproof tape, although trouble for a wine or beer maker. The tap part fitted in perfectly and the silicone washers help keep it watertight. One way of the tap is 'on' and the other 'off'. The whole container has to be on top of a surface and not on the floor because the tap is slightly lower than the base. I will support mine on a few bricks - enough to allow me to get a smaller container under to decant some of the comfrey liquid into. The functionality of this system is good, if you can master the bung and the current price is fair value for money, in my opinion. Oh, and one negative might be that all the printed instructions and recipes, on the tub, are in Polish.

The hole in the lid for the airlock was too small and required me to increase its size (although once I did the it was definitely an airtight fit) The bucket also leaked. My airlock never bubbled, I didn’t get any infections but this was blind luck rather than any attribute of the product. I have since bought some buckets from an actual brew shop, which came with airlocks that fit and the seal is far far better, they were also cheaper, so I suggest that is what you should do if you are looking at this product.
