good film about sex and Hollywood under belly

Not bad

Ashley Hinshaw is gorgeous, and Heather Graham is still gorgeous, and that is probably the best reason to watch this movie. It starts out well with its portrayal of Angelina's dead-end life with her abusive step father, alcoholic mother, loser boyfriend, and her flight to San Francisco with her best friend Andrew. But when she enters into the porn industry, it goes downhill. The portrayal of the porn industry is very rose glasses, with overtones of 'the empowerment of women', with little of the degradation of women and mysegeny which is fundamental to hard-core porn. And correspondingly, Angelina (now Cherry)'s progress through the industry is all too smooth, without any bumps in the road, no bad shoots, no abuse, no rejection.And then there is the relationship with Margaret. From a dramatic standpoint, her interest in Cherry is more than a little too obvious right from the start. And then there is oh-so-convenient falling out with her existing lover, fueled by the mere fact of Margaret looking at pictures of a porn actress. And then, at the end, the ease with which Cherry slides from being a strongly heterosexual girl for whom girl-girl porn was a career choice, to a lesbian relationship with Margaret (who then legs her up from actress to director). I just don't buy it.Pleasure is a more realistic, and sordid, portrayal of the porn industry, but for entertainment Boogie Nights remains the best movie about the porn industry.

Dialogue and sub-titles are in Italian, and so it is rather boring for anyone who does not know that language.

This film looks at the progress of Angelina from her distinctly unpromising life in hicksville in the company of a thug Dad,alcoholic Mum and younger sister. Mum knows that her eldest daughter is clever and sees her as a meal ticket. One of Angelina's boyfriends sees her as a meal ticket too and encourages her to have nude photos taken of her. She does but boyfriend finally realizes what he's done and discourages her from any more photo sessions.However, she's much more feisty and negotiates a higher fee for her services which enables her to go to San Francisco with her boyfriend Andrew having made a contact from the photographer. She has learnt the art of hustle.Andrew finds a job in a bookshop whilst sharing a room with Angelina without the attendant sexual implications. She goes off and does her thing via a porn director, Margare,t who sees her potential in nude pictures. She meets other girls who have come almost the same journey,one of whom admires her for ensuring she was paid for her photos. Angelina is not a little girl lost,unlike other stories of exploitation in Hollywood (a la Linda Lovelace) ; she is quite prepared within reason to do any type of porno shoots - girl/boy, girl/girl and fetishes and thus widens her appeal to Margaret,herself an ex-porn star.Of course, something has to be sacrificed in Angelina's life. Her mum and younger sister come to visit. Her Mum hopes to meet her daughter's new boyfriend, a wealthy lawyer named Franco who has shown her a good time in San Fran. However, he does not make an appearance at dinner as invited. She later finds out how Angelina is making her living. She leaves with the younger sister and fades completely out of the picture. Franco too takes a turn for the exit when he says that what she does is 'disgusting' . Angelina by now is now shooting hard-core porno movie. Andrew, her sexually neglected boyfriend-from-home, has been watching her on a laptop and she catches him . 'Why am I the only one who has never seen you naked?' he asked as she disappears out of his life as well.. It is this scene which provides the final link to the ending.With its subject matter, the film could easily has become a critique of the whole seedy,shabby porno industry ; however, the industry exists because there is a multi-billion dollar interest in it and its participants are workers who provide the goods for market. The ending mirrored the beginning when Angelina auditioned for her pictures - this time another young hopeful is asked the same questions and performs the same scene. The low-key approach was probably a better idea to avoid sensationalizing,just telling the story in a matter-of-fact way. What happened to Angelina, good or bad, would probably happen thousands of times over to wannabe starlets - the film implied that once one has stepped on the treadmill it is difficult to get off whether or not one is behind or in front of the camera.'Cherry'

Un bel fil con una bella storia e anche se vogliamo una morale e di questi tempi fare le prediche divertendo non è semplice da consigliare agli amanti del genere

La entrega del producto estaba previsto hoy por MRW, estuve toda la mañana en casa y no vino nadie.Finalmente leo que intentaron entregarme el paquete a las 15.30...A mí personalmente no me parece muy normal que una empresa de transporte pase a esta hora para entregar un paquete, y más aún cuando nunca pasan a la misma hora (a veces lo hacen de mañana, otras de tarde...)Resultado no lo he recibido y tendré que esperar otra entrega que seguramente será a un horario tan original como este (me espero cualquier cosa...)

Belle photo travaillée, bonne histoire, jolie actrice, l'ensemble bien rythmé. Que demander de plus? Je le conseille fortement à tous les esthètes de la planète.

Get the American version of this DVD which is less censored than the Canadian version. (this is a movie about a wayward teen who ends up in the porn industry so there's no reason to censor it for the kids; the kids shouldn't be watching anyway.)Look at the cover of the box. The title is clearly marked "About Cherry". Underneath it there may be a French translation. Or not. If the cover box does have a French translation, it is the Canadian version. No French translation means it is the American version. I got my American version from one of the independent sellers. The Amazon seller only provides Canadian version. Good luck!!
