1.8lb is for one pie(9.5”), keep in mind.
These beans came with white dust, but I think that’s normal with its material. I didn’t bother to wash them before using, I am using parchment paper to hold them in the pie crust anyway. What I found is that one bag is not heavy enough to keep the pie crust flat during baking. You got to use two bags which is all 1.8lb that you receive.Other than that, I am fine with this product.

Beware of ceramic dust!
Was happy to get a large amount of pie weights for the lowest price. BUT I noticed lots of ceramic dust which would not be healthy near food. So I washed the weights. That removed the bulk of the dust however a bit of dust continued to shed after each use. Should have spent more and maybe gotten better quality ceramic weights with no dust shedding.

Coating keeps chipping
I bought these because I thought these were not the matte ones. Unfortunately, they are and whatever coating was on them is powdering up everywhere and I can't be sure if they are getting in my crusts so I don't feel exactly safe using them in stuff that I will be feeding to people.

DUSTY MOLDY MESS - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
I bake A LOT and I really wanted to love these things but they just have too many issues.1 - 1.8 pounds was not enough to cover the bottom of my average sized pie pan. I had to buy another set so double whatever price they are going for today and that's the real price :(2 - They are very dusty when you get them. You MUST wash them immediately.3 - They are really difficult to clean. When you use them in your pie crust they will get flour and bits of crust on them so they WILL need cleaned. Now imagine cleaning 100 of these things. They are like tiny marbles.4 - They aren't very sturdy. They chip and crack when they bump into each other, leaving the chip in your pie crust.5 - The get moldy easily. I washed them and let them dry overnight. In the morning I rolled them all over to the other side and let them air dry for another 24 hours. When they were finally dry (at least I thought they were) I put them in a baggie with a dry paper towel to absorb any left over moisture. The next time I pulled them out they were covered in mold.At somewhere between $11-$15 per 1.8 pound bag, these are not worth the trouble. Go buy the Chicago Metallic Pie Weight at $12-$15 or get some ball bearings from the hardware store. Either of those options will save you money and the Chicago pie weight is easy to clean.

Odd powder and smell doesn't go away
near as I can tell, the item(s) will do the job intended. However, without knowing the chemical make-up or doing a through review of their components, they maintain a smell and shed a white powder after use and washings. The low review stars are due to this issue. No doubt the country of origin is China, so all bets are off regarding safety, food safety and human consumption of product effluents. If I was more concerned with such, I'd avoid. Simply put, a well shaped pie crust may not be worth the exposure and risk.

Cheap
Quality on these could be better, a few came with the ceramic chipped and have continued to disintegrate as a I've used them. Would not buy again.

OK
Shame on me for not paying attention because I thought these were on a string. They're not, they are loose. The other thing I learned the hard way was not to put them directly on the pie crust before baking. You have to use parchment paper to keep them from sticking or baking into the pie crust. I have used them twice to Blind bake a frozen pie crust. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say it's about a 6.5. However, that could have been from the type of pie crust. It might work better with a homemade crust.

Use a pie chain instead
These are good, but not easy to remove from pie crusts. I think the chains would be a lot easier. I ordered two sets, and I will never use them again. There is also a very chalky residue.
