ESTWING Camper's Axe - 14" Hatchet with Forged Steel Construction & Shock Reduction Grip - E6-25A

I received this tool almost ready for use. The edge was well-shaped and the steel was coated with a thick, clear protective varnish. This is a good thing, but it could clog your wet-stone during first sharpening. I chose to remove the varnish from the edge with fine sandpaper on a flat block before sharpening with a puck-shaped wet-stone. Very little sharpening was required for use. The tool is beautiful, well-designed, comfortable in use, and the sheath is good. I recommend this brand over that other brand that is a similar color but not as well-made or well-prepared for first use.

Best hatchet ever. Had one of these hatchets I got from my dad when I was younger. Recently lost it in a house fire. Was very pleased to find the exact same hatchet all these years later on Amazon. Unbeatable hand feel, good edge retention, good balance and weight. The perfect hatchet, in my opinion.

This hatchet has held up really well. I use it for limbing branches and occasionally for taking down small trees. I’ve had to sharpen it once but it has taken a ton of abuse and is still in excellent condition.

Great design. Seems to hit where i aim. Works well on green wood and bushes. Haven't tried it on firewood. The edge steel seems mediocre, could be harder.

This is a good little hatchet for camp chores. Its all-steel construction makes it heavier than some other hatchets of this size, so it may not be the best choice for backpacking. However, the extra weight seems to help it when splitting firewood. The rubber grip also helps dampen shock during use, which makes it much more comfortable when using it for long periods of time. Out of the box, it appeared to be well made, but the edge definitely needed some work. After sharpening, it chops well enough, splits well enough and drives tent stakes well enough to earn its keep in camp. It's also still made in the USA.

It takes way too much effort compared to other affordable Axes to cut through, and it's smaller than expected, very expensive too, please look somewhere else

Really happy with this purchase, glad I spent the extra money to get something with a little more quality. It’s definitely a solid feeling hatchet, feels like it should last.

Durable, well balanced, efficient at splitting wood for a camp fire, and I can choke up on the head for carving tasks when necessary. It's easy to sharpen/maintain, and the rubber handle does an adequate job at reducing shock.

El hacha es fenomenal, necesitas poco esfuerzo para hacer el corte en la madera y el mango es muy ergonómico. La hemos usado varias veces y aún no ha sido necesario afilarla, es una excelente herramienta, la recomiendo.
