Daphne struck gold! Gus & Chloe were AMAZING!!
Pain in the Axe by Daphne ElliotOh how I devoured this book! I told Daphne as soon as picked this up I was going to be #teamnosleep and I absolutely was! Hubby ordered me to bed at 3am. I don't know what she put in this book but it was absolutely fan-freaking-tastic!!!!We ended the last book/start this book with the biggest bomb dropped. Gus has an ex wife! Whhhhattt? AND... she just bought his family's lumber company AND... the contract states he has to work for her for a year or his family sees nothing! Well damn! 🤯🤯 You'll think "im in for a ride!".... and then Daphne throw in another twist.. an accidental pregnancy! & you KNOW without a doubt it's going to be a WILD ride! It's angsty. And spicy. And the banter is insane. There's anger and laughter and all the freaking feeling. You get to watch these two unfold secrets, get to know eachother again and finally see in other in a new light. And fall in love all over again!Chloe is a boss babe! She's sassy, no holds barred. She does not make life easy for Gus. I had a real love hate relationship with her. Because for as much as i loved her. He drive, determination and the way she kicks ass in 4 inch heels. I hated how she treated Gus. Because that man made me melt. He's so swoony. And he didn't understand why he did so wrong.Let's just say what she thought, wasn't. And when their walls drop and she starts to listen, it's everything. & more!Watching these two grow and come together as a unit was beautiful to see. Because after all they had been through, especially Gus. They both deserved this happily ever after. And it's so good to see! This book is a must read! I could not put it down!Gus is going to be a hard book boyfriend to top! But I can't wait for the next one!!!

later in life romance at its best!!
I loved being back in Lovewell! We really need more lumberjack romances like this, and until then--Daphne Elliot is my go-to!First off, Chloe is such a likable fmc! She is a badass CEO who doesn't need no man because she can do it all for herself! That is until she comes back to Lovewell, where she bought out a failing lumber company previously owned by her ex-husband's family. And now she is his boss! But her plan of swooping in to put him in his place and be the boss from hell, completely blows up when a work-related meeting turns into a reunion between lovers, and several weeks later she's suddenly nauseous and barfing lolAnd Gus, *sigh* where do I even begin? Gus is such a cinnamon roll and completely in love with Chloe, and always has been. He would do anything she could possibly ask of him and is determined to win her back. Once he learns he's going to be a dad, his determination is sky high. Chloe is stubborn and insists she will not cave but is set on maintaining a solid co-parenting relationship with him.Because of the way things ended between them 20 years ago, she doesn't trust him, and we don't learn the intricacies of the conflict until the second half of the book. Once it comes to the surface, it changes everything!! Proving once again, that they were meant to be.I can't stress enough how happy it makes me to see older characters in a swoony romance!! These two were married when they were 19, and spent 20 years thinking the other never truly loved them, only to find each other after going through the trials and tribulations of their 20's and 30's, never having found a love like the one they once shared; and despite everything they went through, they still got their happily ever after! As someone who is getting closer to 40 every day, it makes my heart so full to see this type of representation in romance. Later in life romance stories don't have to be dull and boring just because the characters aren't college-aged hockey players or whatever the latest craze if. They can be just as steamy and angsty, and this particular book is perfect if that is what you're looking for!I highly recommend checking out book 1 for more context, since there is a backstory that provides more context, but if you're the type of reader that doesn't mind jumping around a series, you could potentially read this as a standalone and still enjoy it. I can't wait to read more from this series!

In my lumberjack era..
Currently in my lumberjack era.l, because of these Lovewell men. And I have absolutely fallen in love with this town, and these amazing characters. And this book. This book, was so dang good. But I swear.. it had me in tears. I can relate so much to Chloe’s character. With the loss of her mother.. and her grief. And there were 2 lines.. that just hit..“All the conventional wisdom about grief was bull. It never went away. It never lessened. Instead, the person grieving just got better at dragging it around with them every day.”And,“The ache never stopped. It never lessened. I had just gotten better at living with it. Giving it the right amount of room inside my heart and my mind to allow me to get through the days.”So freaking true. But also.. she feels like she has to do everything herself, and has to be the one that takes care of everyone, and doesn’t want to ask for help. That is exactly how I feel most of the time. But this book was more than just that. It was everything. Funny, and sweet.. and the spice was amazing. Gus, he’s this big, bearded, guy, that’s looks grumpy and doesn’t talk much. But, for Chloe.. he’s a big softy, that reads all the baby books. And I can’t forget the amazing Clive.. He definitely had his fun in this book. lol.Now. I need Cole’s story. Like now, please Mrs. Elliot. Lol.

adored them!
“Seeing your gorgeous face every day is the furthest thing from punishment.”August Hebert is the most loveable grump ever. There is so much behind the mask that he wears and the way he goes soft towards Daphne had my heart bursting. These two had quite the fast burn relationship in the past that lead to a marriage and ultimately a divorce. Now 20 years later they have reunited or according to Gus it’s been..“Nineteen years, four months, and eleven days,”Chloe is a woman on a mission. She used her heartbreak to fuel her mission to become the best In her business and when the opportunity to buy her ex husbands business, she doesn’t hesitate to become his boss and finally get her revenge.“Everything about you offends me, Because you’re still you. An older, hotter version, but still the same Gus.”She doesn’t expect to find glimpses of the man she fell in love with and can’t deny the chemistry that still burns bright between them. Gus realizes quickly that he never got over his ex and is determined to win her back no matter how much distance she tries to put between them.“This is destiny, Dragonfly. Written in the stars. This book tugged so hard on my emotions as we get to experience all the ups and downs in the relationship, watching them find common ground as they work together and their reactions to finding out Chloe is pregnant. Watching them reconnect and get their HEA was so satisfying.“Because I was waiting for you.”I love how we get to catch up with beloved characters, get a little more insight on new characters and the special appearances by my favourite fictional moose. As always, I can’t wait to go back to this town.

Incredible!
So many of my favourite tropes into one book! And divorced exes has definitely become one of my new ones! The underlying chemistry from the get go and watching it build into one of the all time favourite hate s*x scenes I’ve ever read 🥵 The mouth on Gus OMGGGGG SO HOT 🥵Chloe is such an iconic female character and the way she takes the company is amazing! This has immediately jumped into my top 5 books I’ve read this year and judging from the small teaser for the next book it’s going to be incredible too!I would recommend this book so much!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good!
This was such a quick, fun and light read! Gus was so sweet I liked how he immediately knew what he wanted and the way he was with Chloe made me feel all the butterflies! Chloe was a strong, smart and independent woman and I liked how she was back for revenge! I could instantly feel the chemistry between these two and they were so good together! The only thing that bothered me was that the book was short and there should've been some more relationship development. But the plot was unique and engaging so I couldn't put the book down!

Chloe and Gus
This was a second chance romance with Gus Hebert having had a short lived marriage to Chloe 20 years before. I didn't really warm to Chloe. I understood her revenge reasoning at the start of the book but she kept on putting poor Gus through the wringer well after the facts came to light. I'm looking forward to more Hebert stories in the future though.
