Better than "off brand" filters
This filter works great and is easy to install. Can definitely tell the difference in the taste of the water and ice cubes. I've tried cheaper, off-brand filters that are okay, but sometimes they leak and I've noticed they don't remove as many contaminants as the name brand filters do (i.e., lead).

this is a good filter it also helps with the way your water taste, we liked the filter that came with the refrigerator, and ordered the same, we use the ice, which is a huge savings

It seems to work just fine
It fits our model refrigerator and is from Whirlpool. I haven't tried the cheaper models in the past, but don't really like them as they don't last as long.
