Useful for METARs and TAFs
I have periodically found myself floundering through all the abbreviations for weather in the METAR and TAF FAA reports. Of course I can open another webpage while I’m reading the report and then go back to the webpage with the information on it. But I'm finding this gets tedious and confusing. What I really got these placard's for is to have the weather identifier abbreviations on an easy to see card in one place. This heavy-duty laminated card fits the bill. It coincidentally has WAC and sectional scales printed along the outer edge. The opposite part of the laminated card has a variety of information to jot down about departures notes in arrivals, such as the ATIS, frequencies, etc, but you would have to use a marker that could be wiped off when you were done writing it down and wanted to start again. The other card in the set has a certain number of acronyms, such as PAVE for pilot, aircraft, environment, external pressures. I find these are kind of overkill. My favorite is “TOMATO FLAMES” which has 13 individual steps in it! I’ll stick to the simple ones like “GUMP”.
