This drain grate is very sturdy and durable. It holds up to a mower driving over it with no problems.

This sturdy steel grate comes with 1 1/8” angle iron welded to 2 edges and with a 1 1/8” depth.The inset portion is 17 3/8” x 17 5/8” flange to flangeIt’s a little rough around the edges, but still within acceptable tolerances.I’ve seen grates where it looks like they just dipped the wire welded side and the rest is just galvanized plates.In this case, the entire thing looks like it was hot dipped.I really appreciate the way that the seller shares helpful information in the listing intended to both inform and educate the prospective buyer. Plus one star for doing this!Will be using this to construct an uncovered landing outside of a doorway where minimal splashback is required. The great thing about flanged grate planks is that you can easily install and remove them for access underneath with less infrastructure needed to hold them in place.This item is also available without flanges and then measures 17 3/8" square

I thought it would be thicker and heavier.As I was afraid it may break I supported with channel steel underneath.

I was pleasantly surprised the steel is really thick and heavy, but the galvanized finish feels as if it has bubbles and may flake. Not that that is a big deal, as I'm using in a culvert along our private road and should easily take the weight of vehicles. If I was using this by my garage, that may be a consideration to look elsewhere. I'm hoping this will keep the drain open more than in past rain storms.

The grate is impressive. It is very rugged, and built to hold up well under a lot of weight and abuse. I'm not sure how well it will hold up against rust and corrosion because it is new and looks great. I don't think I could have had this grate constructed locally with this quality.

This is a heavy, sturdy grate. I'm not grate expert but this feels to be good quality. I got the "galvanized" version which has a nice silver finish. It's not nicely finished enough to use in a decorative area but for practical purposes, it looks nice.
