Q196A 6 Inch Drill Press Vise Portable Bench Vise with Slotted Base, 6" Jaw Width

I expect this unit to provide reliable service, based on it's more robust construction and weight, than the previous one I was using that had come from my father's estate. Both are 4 inch wide jaws, so I believe it is a fair comparison. One I'm replacing developed a crack in the cast iron base.

The drill press vice is the perfect size for benchtop drill presses. It worked perfectly for the one and a half inch round metal pipe I had to drill holes in.

This review is for Forward 3 inch dill press vise model HY-Q193A-3In. I purchased the blue 3in vise for $25 for my Dremel workstation and the base fits the workstation, and instead of screws I used zip ties to secure the vise to the workstation base. As other reviews say all flat surfaces were sharp at the edges so I had to unscrew the little plates and file down all the sharp edges with a Dremel tool stone all over and under the vise. The vise is built well, is straight and completely flat. It would have got 5 stars if I did not have to do extra work filing down the edges. Also the manufacturer needs to put the manual with the photos so people don’t guess where the actual holes are to attach the vise to the base. I’m attaching the manual here. I am very happy with this vise, it takes very little space and grips the objects without any give. I would recommend this to a friend.

If you need one of these this is a great deal. Seems well made and fits well on my 12inch Delta's table. I'm using either quick-clamps or bolts with wing-nuts and fender washers to secure it, depending on the task. A plus is that the color matches my Forward bench vise.

It is made of metal, has a good base and weight, and I can easily drill straight down with this or free up both hands for various projects.
