The CD is Great; The DVD is Painful to Watch

*by T***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 12, 2011*

I have just about everything Motorhead has produced over the years. Most of it has been great, but there are a few duds from time to time. This is not even close to being a dud. I've had this disc in my player for about two weeks and I play it at least twice a day. It sounds fresh and vital, and contrary to what some others have said, I do think this is CLASSIC, high-grade Motorhead. Actually the last few albums have been impressive. Lemmy must be hooking up with some hot new muse.Do not buy this thinking that the DVD is an added plus. Man, the audience looks totally dead here. This show was in northern Germany ("Wacken"--they have an annual festival) and I'll never think of the German people in the same way again. I thought the kids from this part of Europe were weaned directly from their mother's busom straight to Motorhead, Metallica and quality pilsner, but apparently not. These troubled youth look gone, absent, vacant. Lemmy and the guys are dealing out major blows of metal thunder, and these lethargic weasels are basically just standing there in a dull stupor. Did the vendors run out of popcorn or something? It hurts to watch, and in my mind it was totally disrespectful to this legendary institution. I understand, if the vibe isn't there, or if you don't feel it, then there's no obligation to applaud or engage. But Lemmy et al. are in maniacal form here. And, the crowd could obviously tell they were filming the concert; even that didn't motivate them.I personally found the music rousing. My wife and children formed a mosh pit and tried to throw me around but I fended them off with hot pizza. My neighbors called the police because I was playing this so loud and when the cops arrived they issued me a stern warning only AFTER they turned up the volume even louder and played air guitar with Lemmy and the lads for 20 minutes. They told me they would have tazed and pepper-sprayed the audience for Motorhead insubordination had they been there live in "Wacken."I suspect what happened there in "Wacken" was that there was a long wait before the show started and the folks were tired and sulking. Even Leni Riefenstahl couldn't have choreographed vitality into these brooding people. But, achtung!!, friends, Lemmy is in the building and the party has now begun; start to live a little for goodness sakes! You have a reputation to maintain. The Jetta didn't invent itself.I'm now not going to buy that BMW touring K-bike I was pondering; it's off the list of possibles; I'm going Yamaha, or maybe even Vespa! as the ultimate act of protest against Germanic insolence. The Japanese and the Italians understand passion for deserving bands. The whole "German excellence" vibe is ruined for me after seeing acres of passive Bavarians mope ("Wacken"-off, so to speak) like Ritalin zombies in front of Lemmy & Co..

    Another Great Rockin' Album!

*by R***H on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 12, 2021*

This album has at least several great rockin' songs on it! Fun for the whole family. You should get this album since its one of the best. "Brotherhood of Man" is the ultimate rock/metal song there is and its so much addictive! Will be using it for whatever days of daily consumption since I eat a lot. There is some other good ones too like "Devils In My Head" which seems like just another hit. And much more. There's a string of series of hits on this title., but it ends soon after: "Brotherhood... .
