RuffwearFront Range Dog Day Pack, Backpack with Handle for Hikes & Day Trips, River Rock Green, Large/X-Large

Ruffwear products came highly recommended to me, and though I initially balked at the price, I have to say spending the extra money on a high quality pack was worth it!I got a size small for my 30lb Heeler. It fits him like a glove. There is ample padding and he seems to be very comfortable in it. The material is thick and high quality, so I have zero worries about it getting destroyed on our hikes. The handle on the back of it is sturdy enough that I can lift him up if he ever needs assistance. The pockets themselves have enough storage space for anything we could ever need (though I don’t load him up too heavy because of his size). Also the aqua color is very lovely and stands out so I can see him easily when he is off leash. I’m super impressed with this pack and looking forward to our many adventures in it! I would even get other products from Ruffwear after buying this.

We looked at a LOT of dog packs. I even ordered one of the more "cost effective" brands as it seemed a good fit for breathability, only to find it had far too little storage space. This pack has the most storage space out of everything I found.We actually want to backpack with our dog. Which means she needs to be able to carry all her own gear. This pack has ample room for water bottles, several days worth of food, a ball, a bowl, etc. It is tough canvas and fits well, nice and sturdy. It has the most storage space of all the packs I looked at by far.We have not yet taken it out for an actual spin, but it does fit our 55lb shepherd mix pretty well. She is 29" in the chest and we ordered a medium and had to tighten quite a bit it for it to fit snuggly with room for chest expansion when she breathes. I considered whether we should have gone a size down but husband said he would then be worried about it being too tight and not offer enough breathing room.My only concern, and maybe this is a factor of it being so sturdy with the canvas, but it isn't very breathable. This is the ONLY reason I lowered the comfort rating on it. The other packs I looked at had more mesh and thinner material running along the back. This pack does not. If you have a black dog, like we do, this might be tough in the overheating department. However, again, we haven't actually taken it on a trip yet so I am not sure how much of a factor the breathability of the material will even be yet.Otherwise I'd say it was well worth the money for the storage space alone!We are super excited to use it and our girl loves it.

So Happy with the performance of bag. Went on a twenty mile overnight hike fully loaded and it went amazing. Bag was tight and stayed on very well on all terrain. My Dog liked the fit and did not mind the Bag. My dog is a black doodle, so she tends to get hot. No signs of any rubbing, hot spots or problems. I am a very happy costumer and glad I spent the extra money. I bought the extra light which stays clipped on and gave me peace of mind at night. Worked best for me is to use her collar with leash clip and go throw the large heavy duty strap on back of Bag. Also nice to tuck large leash in bag handle when walking off leash in woods. Fyi, I Bought the medium dog pack. It held a large water bottle, 4 ziplock meals of food. Two small silicone bowls. A dog towel, tennis balls. and treats with extra room to spare. I would highly recommend.

I bought an XS for a Lakeland Terrier. Which was appropriate based on the size chart (17” at the widest point of her ribs). The quality of the product was great. The pack came at the largest setting which made it really tedious to adjust. But once I had put the straps to the smallest setting, it was still too loose around the neck and too long for her body and, as a result, I could see that one strap might rub against her hind legs. The two pouches were very spacious but just too bulky for her size. If this pack existed in an XXS, I would certainly try it, but as is, I am returning it and do nit recommend it for small dogs.

We went on a 2 mile sand walk at the beach to try it out. very well built, seemed to be comfortable for our 22 lb dog, harness is as strong as their version without the packs. nice to not have to carry everything, looking forward to trying it on some trails.

Great hiking harness for my pup 60# AmStaff/ Boxer mix… the ease of adjustment, the padding and comfort are great. We’ve hiked for hours and not issues with rubbing or chafing… great product great price

We use this every hike with St Bernard. He carries his own water now LOL! Fits him great! The straps are perfectly placed to hold pack close to his body. Durable material.

I got this for my dog to help get rid of some extra energy he has. We like to take hikes and I put a couple water bottles in the side pockets and little poop bags and treats. The pockets are huge. I like that it doesn’t move around too much and the design is sleek enough that he can still fit through hiking areas that may have downed trees or overgrown areas.

The media could not be loaded.  Very great product, it was my dog first backpack, he was a bit hesitant at first but quickly got used to it. We went on a camping trip and he was carrying his own stuff (a long line, retractable bowl, harness, poop bags) can also fit small water bottles in each pocket for hikes. My dog is 27kg, husky mix, and Medium size was perfect, still some room to loosen the strap. Color is really pretty. Only negative point is that it would’ve been nice to have a metal front clip, don’t know if this one is solid enough.

So I will try this again. Great product. Purchased for daughter pup, a rescue. She needed a job this works great. Calms her down. I purchased a blue one also for my BMD, as he is by nature a working breed, this solved a few problem.

I was surprised at how much space this thing has in it, since it's marketed as a "day pack". Although Ruffwear says most dogs can carry ~25% of their body weight, other sources (including my vet) recommended closer to 10-15%. This backpack can fit at least 12 cups of kibble, which is more than enough for a few nights in the backcountry. I'll update my review after we've done an overnight trip in the early summer; so far we're just training on long day hikes.Pros:- very adjustable, fits weirdly-shaped dog better than most harnesses/coats- multiple leash loops- bright colour is good for spotting ticks- fits at least 12 cups of kibble!- durable fabric, decent zippers- inner pockets for smaller items that can be kept closer to the chest- dog seems comfortable - quick release buckles are never against skin or fur- snaps underneath saddlebags that keep them against the harness straps reasonably well to prevent them from flapping around while hikingCons:- saddlebags aren't detachable, so hiking in leash-only parks requires you to carry a collar or alternative harness for when you unload your dog- the pack lists sideways a little bit if there's any tension on the leash at all, despite tightening all straps as much as is safe; this may be because my dog has a narrow neck and waist and sort of a barrel chest, though- could use more in the way of reflective material; only has very small strips at the top of the shoulders

Je vais souvent dans la jungle avec mes chiens et c'est eux qui portent leurs croquettes quand je vais faire un carbet (camper). Il faut juste veiller à bien équilibrer le poids dans chaque poche. Je recommande!

I had ruffwear harness for my dog already and I was very happy with it. As I knew that size I ordered the same for the saddle bag and it was just perfect! Its very flexible and easy to fit it on the dog.The bag does not move around even if the weight is not exactly the same on the two sides. The bags are big enough, treatbag and extendable leash fits and space remains still.Material is great, remained dry when it was raining.I don’t know who loves this product more me or my dog 😄
