Good shocks, but you need new springs too!!!!
I gave this product 5 stars, but I was a bit unhappy when I found out months later that you need to change the springs as well. I believe this applies in some or most cases. If your vehicle has the ZW7 (Nivomat) suspension, these shocks will work, but you need to replace the springs also! The original Sachs shocks are higher pressure and designed to work with the stock springs, supporting some of the vehicle weight. The Bilstein shocks do not support the vehicle. I noticed no difference with an empty vehicle, but loaded or hauling a trailer could be a problem if you do not replace the springs. You need to replace the stock springs with the Bilstein springs, 199020 for my vehicle. Nice ride, but added work and another $120 or so.

Installed on lowered yukon
I installed these on my wife's Yukon after I lowered it 4" in the back and added shock drop mounts. Rides good and I am always happy with Bilstein, as I have installed them on my truck as well.

Nice upgrade for 2004 Chevy Suburban 1500 LT 4WD (rear shocks) - both on road / highway with light off road use (forest roads).
These replaced the stock shocks on my 2004 Suburban, and what else to say except they are Bilsteins - and they work well. I am a believer in the hype, the 5100's are a nice upgrade for mixed use of both street and off road. I don't do any serious off roading, but do like to drive on Forest roads to get to some remote camping destinations, and these fit the bill well for that. Recommended as an upgrade if it is time to replace your stock shocks. The stock shocks on the 2004 Suburban are not overly bad and I was able to get 50K before they needed replacement, but naturally, your mileage may vary (literally). Some replace their stock shocks immediately, which I can understand, many times the stock shocks are garbage.... NOTE::: Suburbans from this time period can be tricky on the rear shocks, and even the front shocks, so do your homework for your particular vehicle. Some Suburbans have the Nivomat shocks on the rear (expensive, harder to find and replace), and some have automatic air shocks all the way around - and in both cases standard aftermarket shocks will not work. My Suburban had the "Premium Smooth Ride" package, with standard Delco Monotubes all the way around, so these standard type BIlsteins worked.... Thanks for reading.

Perfect for the rear of a 03 Tahoe Z71
I installed Rough Country torsion keys on my 2003 Chevy tahoe and the stock shocks rode very rough. I have almost 3" of lift in the front and after I put Bilstein shocks in the front, the ride improved drastically. The torsion keys gave me so much lift that when I put new springs in the back I added a one inch lift to level out the Tahoe and the these rear Bilsteins. Four Bilsteins is truly the way to a better ride both on the road and over the rough stuff. Made my Tahoe ride like a dream!

These are really good shocks. The only thing I didn't like was they came without a strap around the shop so you have to fully compress this shock to get it installed on your vehicle. This will double anybody's install time. Most shocks come a strap you can cut after you get it installed these didn't and that why I gave 4 stars. They performance is awesome though. I tell immediately how well my Tahoe rides. Noticed the change just in the first few miles I drove.

Bil 5100s
Exact shocks I needed for my 01 4x4 Burb. These should be for 0-2" lift. Bit heavier duty than 4600s

Easy DIY, use a jack to make it simple, ratcheting box end too.
2005 Suburban 1500 4x4, all stock. Replaced original shocks with a set of these 5100s. First comments are based on test ride with new fronts only. The truck still rolls into corners but a little less so. It is definitely less bouncy and feels a little more solid. Definitely replace all 4 shocks. I had some question as to how to layer the top mount bushings (2, over and under) and the concave washers (2, over and under). I found the hieroglyphics instructions useless (I'm at least a little educated, I can assemble ikea furniture perfectly). I had to Google to find out how they go (the washers make () around the bushings; the bushings' rubber lip mash into the trucks shock mount). My test drive with just the front two shocks was underwhelming overall. I'll update when I test drive with all 4 shocks. You don't need to jack up the truck but it makes it easier. The bolts (rear upper and lower) are 13/16ths on my truck but I used a 22mm and a 21mm just fine. Top mounting bolt for the fronts were different between stock and Bilstein were different(15mm and 17mm). Use a ratcheting box end wrench, it's the perfect thing. Use big vise grips to keep the post from spinning. I torqued the top mounting bolt after setting the truck on the ground... just enough to bulge out the rubber bushing a little.

The rod shield look ugly, its sagging as it is installed diagonally in my truck. Bad wield workmanship very dirty.

UPDATE, LONG TERM REVIEW: I bought them with confidence after all the reviews I read and from recommendations from ppl in the industry and other buyers. Now, less than 5yrs after purchase, both rears are blown. I didn't beat them. Used them for what they're for: daily driving, long and short travels, occasionally towing the rv and driving them on dirt/fire roads on a few occasions during hunting season. No big deal, they have a lifetime limited warranty so I contacted Amazon, which does not provide support for them anymore since 2021. Then contacted Bilstein's customer care and that's why I changed my review rom 3 to 1 star. I had to contact them 3 times to finally have someone get in touch with me, after more than a week. The person who got in touch with me asked for details on my purchase and pictures of the blown shocks. Sent everything within a few hours of their request. That was April 16. As of today May 1st, I am still waiting for news from their customer care crew. Nevermind. I need new shocks, so I will buy another brand's locally. Beware when buying some car parts on Amazon. Lesson learned. Will buy locally now. The best I could have bought for my Suburban! Improved handling over worn stock, can't wait to see if I'm gonna feel any improvement towing the tt soon. Easy install, very good looks, love 'em so far. PRODUCT IS OF EXCELLENT QUALITY! The only reason I gave 3 stars is because of Amazon delivery. I ordered a pair of these. The 1st one arrived fairly late considering I'm a PRIME member and they were prime items. It arrived 10 days after I ordered them. BUT the 2nd one was delayed 3 TIMES!!! Was supposed to arrive around June 17-19; received a notification from Amazon on the 19th to say it would arrive a few days later. Finally arrived on the 25th. It's not the 1st time it happens on PRIME items lately. Tried to tell Amazon of the delivery problems, never been able. Was really disapointed w. my deliveries lately.
