Best Technic supercar so far !
So this is the latest in the range of technic supercars from Lego, and in my view the best. I've got them all ( I might have a Lego addiction ! ), and they have learnt from all the previous ones to make this one a more refined build with some new pieces and techniques. Everything about it feels special from the way the box opens to reveal the three boxes inside with pictures of the car, to the manual with all the extra info about both the real car and the "Lego-fication" of it. Really worth exploring all this, plus the videos they have done just to really embrace the build experience. As always, worth checking online to see if there's any amendments to the manual and downloading a PDF version from Lego. These are complex builds, especially the gear boxes and in this case hybrid drive, so in every other one I've built I've found it worthwhile doing that just to make sure you've got the latest version. The manuals look and feel great. Seriously weighty and quality paper. Artwork matches the box styles, and the diagrams are clear, though because it is a very complex build it's worth taking a bit of extra care on some of the steps as it is easy to get a gear or piece the wrong way and then have to undo several steps of building when you realise later. Because the P1 is a hybrid drive, this not only has a fully functional gearbox attached to the engine, there's also a selectable hybrid motor assembly to, as well as the flappy paddles for gear changes. It's truly mind boggling how they get it all the detail in there ! Value for money depends on how much you pay for it. I got this on a deep discount, so felt pretty good about it. If you pay full RRP, then I think it's expensive, but Lego isn't a cheap hobby sadly. As it's a 1/8 scale vehicle, it's pretty big... 60cm long by about 25cm wide, so you'll need to think about somewhere to display it. There's lots of options for wall mounts if you're short on space which is how I have mine mounted and I think it looks really cool. Overall I totally recommend this if you're into Lego Technic and supercars... If you're collecting them all, you won't be disappointed with this one. If you only wanted one, obvs that decision will be swayed by which of the cars you are a bigger fan of, but this is the one you should get if you just want the best of them all. Especially since it is often reduced in price.

Gorgeous set piece
It's an amazing set piece. Took me around 15 hours to build. It's divided into 23 bags, every bag is around 40 minutes, so you don't need to manage your time, or sort your pieces (if you build 1:8 Technic models from other producers, you know what I mean). The gearbox is a bit finicky, but you won't be playing with it that much once built.

Wow: not value for money but amazing kit
Unfortunately not value for money at upwards of £350 but what a kit! Took 3-4hrs to build whilst watching film (23yo builder) Amazingly detailed but lots of unique parts.

Well worth the challenge.
Very glad this was not my first build, as complicated and intricate. But thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, proved entertaining, and kept interest from start to completion.

Amazing
AMAZING It only took my son 4/5 days to complete (granted they were full on days over entire weekend)! Some parts are very intricate which added to the challenge. The quality is outstanding and the completed McLaren is definitely awesome 5*

Great technic set
Absolutely love this set. It's very good quality as all lego is. While it's very expensive it is definitely worth it

Amazing...but can be awkward and fidly
Bought as a surprise Xmas gift for my other half, got it when discounted so feels like a bit of a bargain. Definitely made for 18+, takes time to assembled and bit of a challenge but that's the fun. Amazing quality product. Only complaint I heard numerous times during the build was how fidly it can be lol. Looks good once completed, if not a bit bigger than expected. Not for kids.

Very challenging build
How can I begin to describe this set! Very technically challenging for someone who build lego as a fun hobby, but was a very fun build. Even the wife said how she was happy it kept me busier than the other sets I have built
