Microsoft Surface Pro (5th Gen) (Intel Core i5, GB RAM, 128GB)

I only use my Surface for digital drawing with a Surface Pen in Photoshop CC 2019, and so far it has worked mostly great! I bought the I5 with 8 gigs of RAM, and I would say that is the absolute minimum specs I would go for, for heavy Photoshop usage. Depending on what I am doing, PS will lag a bit at times. Battery life is OK, I can get maybe 4 or 5 hours out of a charge. Drawing on this screen is NOT true to life, but it is super milky smooth and I love it. I need the screen to be pretty bright when I'm drawing, which of course burns more battery. I feel like the standard screen brightness setting is not enough. Before I bought this I was worried that the stand wouldn't be good enough, but it is great, I love it. Another thing I appreciate is that this tablet comes with much less bloatware than, say, your standard Dell laptop. Speakers are nothing to write home about, not surprisingly. I will update this review as I use this tablet more.

Opened the package and turned it on and touchscreen was totally unresponsive. Turned the screen off and back on and the touchscreen would work for maybe two touches and then go totally unresponsive again. Followed all of the troubleshooting advice that microsoft's website recommends, but none of it worked. Contacted Amazon and they couldn't get a replacement to me for another week at a more expensive price. Very frustrated with both Amazon and Microsoft.

THe model I bought only has 128 GB SSD. That is it's one shortcoming. If I'd gone with the larger SSD, the shortcoming would have been price, so there you are. This tablet computer really does productivity software well. It isn't a gaming machine, but I didn't buy it for that. I'm using it with a digit piano and for that it is perfect. My Surface 4 (4GB RAM) exploded due to a battery malfunction, and MS was only able to offer an identical replacement for $450. I'm grateful that I was able to get this replacement with twice the RAM, at such a good price!

Awesome ! I bought this for HVAC sales. Works great impressive to the customer! Paired it with a Canon portable printer. Less time to do after hours service billings and proposals= more money and more time with the family! Upgrade from that hand written invoice for more sales!

I bought several of these and more than 10% eventually had hard drive problems. They're soldered SSDs and not replaceable like the prior generation. Naturally all were just out of warranty so they were bricks. Useless. Unless quality control improves, Microsoft has a compelling product that you're risking throwing in the garbage if it fails out of warranty. Disappointing.

The i5 with 8gb and type cover was on sale for 799. I purchased this and returned within 2 days. Here are my issues... As a PC.... its below average and overpriced. It's intended for light usage - internet browsing, emailing, youtube, netflix... that kind of thing. I would assume if you are a student, this is where you would get the most mileage out of this thing. Extremely portable, extremely light, and good for writing papers, preparing presentations, and whatever things you need to do in college. However if you need this for anything more than that, you will find this thing to not be powerful enough to handle certain applications. Also, there is no fan. That means, if you are doing something heavy, it has no means to expel heat meaning... HOT. So again, this is designed for light usage, not intended for anything heavy. As a tablet... this is where this thing really falls short. I want to drop the review to 2 stars because of this. Window's store is very limited on apps and overall, this is still a PC not a tablet. In tablet mode... you will have to use full website versions for most things. However, most full webpages were not designed to for tablet use. You will find most full webpages and full PC applications to be extremely hard to use with just the touch screen. But because its Windows... you won't have the option to just download the app version of these full PC website or applications. You simply have to suffer through using a touch screen for pages/applications that were not designed for touch screen use. For this reason, you almost have to have the type cover so you can go into PC mode and use a mouse. I cannot imagine anyone buying this thing without the type cover. Overall, thought most of my review is negative, I give it 3 stars because I do see a market for this device. If you are a student or you just never use the internet for more than videos and memes, thing is a great machine. If you want more, this thing will not offer you more. If this cost 500 with the type cover, I would have likely kept it. But for 800 bucks... despite a sale and bundle with the type cover... it was not worth it to me.

I tried to make the switch from MacBook to the Microsoft Surface Pro, but I keep going back to my MacBook. I had issues with the email app on Windows, so I had to continue using my phone to check my email. Also, the Surface Pro isn't ideal if you like to sit with a laptop actually on your lap. Overall, I'm just not that happy with the Surface Pro. Wish I could return it, but I'm past the return window, so now I'm stuck with it.

As a university student, it is lightweight, you're able to write on it with a stylus, thus saving paper. This was especially important to me since I'm studying Environmental Studies. I wanted to invest in a product that will last me well into my medical school career or master of urban planning and juris doctor degree. It does overheat a little, it only overheats when I'm writing on the tablet during class. I always have Night Light on and its dimmed to save battery life so this might be a little concerning to some but I dont mind it. It keeps my hand warm during the winter months - love it! Windows Hello works all the time, well since I had it at least (been a month or two). Battery life is great, I'd say I get around 9 hours. Again, to reiterate, I always have nightlight on since it filters out blue light, and I always have it on the lowest brightness or next to lowest if I cant see. I always carry a charger with me anyway so it doesnt matter. It does lack a few ports, but I dont use it often anyway. Thunderbolt, USB B, charging port, and mini SD reader for expandable storage. Overall, I recommend this product to university students, if you buy it off Microsoft website you qualify for student pricing if you use your schools email address. Bonus: the charging adapter has a built in USB B female so I'm able to charge my phone too. If you do this, beware that the charging brick thing gets really warm but not hot.

Best 2 in 1 device.. only for office work... not for gamers... fan less.. turn on tablet in 3 seconds thanks for ssd.. every thing is snappy fast.. Surface pro 5 will ship with windows 10 pro but surface pro 6 will ship with windows 10 home this is great injustice.. table use to turn on in 5 seconds.. not made for heavy usage. Downside: type pad should purchase separately No number pad in type pad, no full size keyboard,

I am using it since 3 months. Battery life is good. I use only lighter application, no gaming. It's very light in weight and perfectly serves my need.

I am very glad that I bought the Surface Pro and not Surface 6 Pro. Wanted the Windows 10 Pro. After 9 years I am back to Microsoft and Windows environment and I am thrilled. The tab is quick and responsive and works like a dream for my usage. I find the laptop mode with the Surface keyboard on par with MacBook Air 13" and flexibility even better. The tablet mode with Microsoft Pen is awesome. The full shut down to Restart is super quick. Pleasantly surprised. Overall a A+++ Thank you Microsoft, thank you supplier and a big thank you Amazon.
