Lots of good patterns.
My wife bought this to look for pattern varieties for her hat making business. She said there are only two patterns she does not like.

Hats Up to This Book!
This book of delightful hats to knit is just perfect for the winter months ahead. It includes 25 patterns that are 'variations on caps, berets, beanies, cloches, hats, toques, tams and snoods ranging from feminine to sporty'. There is a hat in here for everyone. The patterns are enticing, the instructions clear, and the book is a good resource for hat knitters everywhere. My favorites are Wanderer Cap with a bold zig-zag pattern knit in a gold color, Everdeen Beanie with allover scalloped lace knit in a lovely blue, Chroma Cap that reminds me of Peruvian and Norwegian patterns, Hued Toque with 'small bands of color in this slouchy hat' suitable for a man or a woman. The Annex Snood is adorable. It is knit with an open-lace pattern and lightweight yarn and can be worn year-round. The layered Cloche in a puprlish hue has an unusual shape and covers the wearer's ears for warmth. All in all, the patterns are great, easy to read and the book is a wonderful resource for hat knitters.

Great hat patterns
Purchased as a gift. The recipient has used different hat patterns for hats and has found the directions easy to follow.

Nice hats, watch your gauge, and not all patterns are charted.
I've now made four of these hats and like them really well. I couldn't find all of the yarns but was able to make substitutions. Like any other pattern, you have to CHECK YOUR GUAGE. The hat on the front, for example, is knit with Malabrigo silky merino on size 6 needles. HUGE. I ripped it out after a few inches and started over with size 4.Patterns are mostly straightforward. Not ALL designs are charted, so it loses a star for that. Overall, a nice collection of hats.

This book deserves 10 Gold Stars!
FINALLY! A great hat book with beautiful, functional AND well designed hats. This book has satisfied my quest for the perfect hat book. The designs in this book are varied and creative without going way overboard and too heavy on design. I can literally say that I could see myself knitting all but maybe one or two of the 25 designs that are offered. The patterns are very well presented with clear instructions as the knitter progress from one element of construction to another. The pictures are beautiful to look it as well as providing clear concise pictures of all elements of each pattern. Each pattern also provides a 'tips & techniques' section related to knitting hats. There is a 12 page glossary of basic knitting instructions - just the right amount of information. There is 2 pages dedicated to highlighting the 19 or so contributing designers. Each has provided web information and a little information about themselves. I can't wait to jump in and start knitting!

Wonderful books BUT quite advanced
Every pattern is wonderful! Usually you can find just a few patterns in such a book you even like. But we all loved EVERY pattern. Great details with knitting directions in the back about all special stitches (such as SSK, etc) There is one pattern that I saw in a knitting book that cost over $14 for just the ONE pattern.I will make a point of LEARNING these new stitches.Just a wonderful book! I knit for friends, but even more important I knit caps for patients (kids and adults) who have lost their hair from cancer treatment. So to be able to knit such beautiful hats for cancer patients just makes the effort so great for me...I am undergoing such treatment myself.

Very nice assortment of hats.
I like the variety of hats in this book. I've just received it, so haven't made any yet, but there are several that I want to try. The instructions seem well written & I especially like how they are nicely spaced, meaning that there are nice separations between the rows, making things easier to read & follow. The row headings are in bold print, making that easier to find one's place also. There are also nice, multiple views of each hat. I also like that they include the necessary yarn weight in each pattern. I already have several hat knitting books; I think this will be one of my favorite ones.

Cap your noggin!
Loving this hat book. Looking through it, I think: "Why is knitting so slow?" The hats are too cute in this book. There are about 3 designs for men, if you're wondering. That's unfortunate, but I forgive because the hats for women are darling! You've got your choice of Berets, Beanies, hats with pom-poms ,a Snood hat, Tams and many more. One of my favorites is the Earflap hat. Yes, I am pleased. Weekend hats? Well, one must be very diligent with the needles, but I'd say, yes, you could get a hat within a week-end. I took week-end to mean huge cables and bulkiness, but that's not the case here. The designs are contemporary and stylish. Tips and techniques, included. This was a great choice for me.

my first hat
"Weekend hats" has a very good variety of designs in different weights of wool and there are several here I would try. I am half-way through my first ever hat (Leaves Long Beanie) and finding it getting easier. I am not an experienced knitter but wanted to try something more challenging on a small scale so that I don't get discouraged. I like the idea of short weekend projects - ideal for a winter evening in. A lot of the patterns use lace or cable stitches with charts (- so far, so good). Only a couple use complex coloured patterns. That's OK because I can't do those yet!I'm not sure why one reviewer was bothered by using circular needles. It seems straightforward and the knitting doesn't fall off easily, and surely it's fun to learn a different method. I've just ordered a set of circular bamboo needles on Amazon for a few pounds which I think will cover most of the sizes I need for the other designs in this book. One criticism is that most of the hats seem to be in a small size - even the men's. Only found two so far to fit me without adjustment, but I'm knitting this one for a petite family member and when I start on one for myself I'll just try a larger needle and keep measuring.

I didn't know such a good knitting book, with modern wearable existed till I bought this!
You know how it is when you buy a cookery book, which you never actually use, well you won't have this problem with this book.I've knitted loads of patterns from, some of them more than once. Even people who think that knitting is boring actually take time to look at the hat pictures. The yarns that they suggest are expensive, but because they include the thickness of wool (for example double knit (DK) thickness is size 3) it makes it easier to find a cheaper alternative. But beware - would need to be a fairly advanced knitter to follow these patterns and most (if not all) of the patterns require circular knitting skills.

All patterns are fun, well-written and design-wise have a bit of pizzazz ...
Istarted by picking out the hats I really wanted to knit - you know, the patterns you actually buy a book for - and after knitting several of the same decided to branch out into some of the ones that I had discarded as possibilities. I was pleasantly surprised. All patterns are fun, well-written and design-wise have a bit of pizzazz sometimes lacking in run of the mill beanies and other toppers. I would definitely recommend this book to learners and advanced knitters alike. There is something here for everyone.

Hats for everyone.
Great book with clear pics and detailed instructions. The choice of hats is great. Some books have alot of patterns that you wouldn't dream of knitting in a month of Sundays with only one or two good ones. This book is choc-a-block with goodies. Definitely recommended.

Lovely Book
A beautiful book, with a selection of very interesting hats to make. The yarn is not always easy to get hold of, and can be quite pricey. However, to make a hat in a very good yarn and give it to someone you care about is worth the extra money.
