Straightforward Charger But with Install Glitch
This is a nice, straightforward EV charger that can plug right into an existing 240 wall outlet. (Mine has the NEMA 6-50) plug, apparently a less common plug in the EV world. This charger got a great review from Wirecutter and that influenced my purchase. Mounting the charger box was easy, but the holster for the charging plug was another matter. I LOVE the long cable. I needed every last inch of the 24 feet to reach the car's charge port. My previous cars had charge ports on the left, this one on the Hyundai IONIQ is on the right. My outlet was up front, but the charge port is in the back. The cable just managed to reach the charge port. And I mounted the plug's holster near the car port, far from the charger itself.Note: This is not a "smart" charger. It has no WiFi / Bluetooth functions and no remote controls via an app. I did not need that, so that's fine. I can control the scheduling of my charges from the car.I had two installation glitches; both pertain to the EV Plug Holster to hold your plug on the wall when it's not plugged into the car. 1). The digital owners manual (I applaud not wasting paper) said it came with 4 Phillips head screws. Mine came with only 2 of those screws. It came with two more screws that are Robertson head (small square holes). I don't have a Robertson head screwdriver. 2). I managed to get one screw partly into a wood stud. That was just fine. But then it took more than 20 minutes of struggling and using two screwdrivers in tandem just to get the second screw to emerge from the hole in the back and into my starter hole in the wall. That's because the top of this holster is three inches deep and at a slope so the screw wants to fall out, and even when inserted, wants to grab the edge, but that's not where the hole is. (Hope that makes a bit of sense.)For that, I give 4 stars instead of 5.This is rated as waterproof to install outdoors, but mine is inside a garage.

Easy peasy
Just installed the GrizzlE Avalanche. Box came with all the components. But it didn’t have instructions. Luckily I had already had online access to the manual, so reopening the link was easy. Instructions were very clear and easy to follow. Once I completed installing the new 50amp 240v breaker, mc6awg cable and NEMA 6-50 receptacle, installing the charger was simply screw a couple screws into studs and plug it in. It immediately connected with my Polestar 2 and charged quickly, even in sub-freezing temperatures in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. It’s only been two days, but so far couldn’t have asked for a better experience. It is true that the “holster” is fairly cheap. But it works to keep the plug out of the snow. Everything else so far has been solid.

Simple and Effective
Purchased this product to replace a much older Level 2 charger. I chose this item because of the simplicity and apparent quality, and I have not been disappointed. The thing is solidly built, and works like a charm. Installation was as simple as anyone could ask for. If you have no need for - or desire for - a "smart" charger, this one is hard to beat.Note that the plastic plug/cable hanger that comes with the unit seems adequate, but I opted to order the Grizzl-E Heavy Duty Easy EV Plug (J1772), and it is great too. The cable is pretty thick and stiff, and the heavier duty hanger seems to be a smart choice.

Simple, robust, powerful EV charger.
It's built like a tank outside, is simple and has no moving parts inside, and is capable of up to 40 charging. An EVSE is basically just a smart extension cord, don't add complexity, the simpler the more likely it is to last.

EV Charger...Fast
It was easy to setup up and use. Ours is in our garage on a 40A circuit. We set the the DIP switches for 32A but had to change the switches for 24a. When we used the 32a, our 40a breaker would trip. We are charging a Jeep Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid. It took over 12 hours to change fully with the 110 charger that can with the car. Now we are charging it in 2 hrs and 38 min. Switching to 24a did not hardly change the charge time indicated on the car dash from 32a setting. This setting probably is easier on batteries.
