This decanter works exactly as advertised. The special insert sprays the wine onto the sides of the decanter as you pour i the wine; it runs down the sides to an "iceberg" design in the bottom of the carafe. Then, you can pour the wine directly out using the same insert. Young wines will benefit from the aeration and older wines may not only open up but benefit from eliminating sediment through careful decanting. I use my cellphone light under the neck of older wines, having removed the entire capsule, and carefully pour till I see the dark line of sediment coming down the stream. Quality of both decanter and insert are good. Nice gift.

Inner metal rim does not fit inside glass topper mouth. The glass rim is not wide enough.

I really like this combo -- I have only used it a few times, but it is doing its job. The only issue I have with it -- which is by design -- is that the decanter itself is quite large and I don't have a good place to store it.

The size and shape of this is perfect for airing the wine you pour into it. There are no spills when pouring out or into. Very classic look that has great functionality

This is a very nice stylish and functional decanter. Stylish in terms of the iceberg indent that makes the wine look nice and serves as an easier grip for your hands when you pour the wine. The aerator top is also functional in that it has a filter screen to capture any sediments (think tartaric crystals) and is designed to maximizes aeration of the wine as the bottom part directs the wine into multiple streams to the side of the decanter wall. Very pleased with this order.
