Bassoonists have two main options for supporting their bassoons while they play -- they can use a neck strap or a seat strap. The neck strap can get uncomfortable very quickly but if you need to stand and play at all it's the only way.BUT for bassoonists in ensembles, who sit all the time, the seat strap is far more comfortable as a support, and this is an excellent seat strap! It really grips the chair and doesn't slip and has two hooks -- one is an open J shape hook and the other is a carabiner-type spring-lock enclosure which can't slip out of the loop on the bassoon.This does NOT come with the metal loop to go around the boot of the bassoon so if your bassoon does not already have that you will need to order that separately.The only reason I'm giving this only 4 stars is that they should include the metal loop (even if they need to add another dollar or two to the cost!) because not all bassoons already have that attachment.As a seat strap it is worth 5 stars, but as a package deal it's only 4 stars. If your bassoon already has that loop to attach the seat strap to, this is the one to buy!

This bassoon seat strap is made of leather which is sturdy and the hook which holds the bassoon in place works quite well

I've had a lot of low quality straps snap on me in the past, but this one shows no sign of doing so and is very stable!

Works as expected.

When my daughter started playing bassoon, I was told this was a must. I ordered it, and it looks fine, but the hook that is to connect on the bottom of the bassoon to hold it in place is too big. Thus, this product is unusable.

S hook fell off on the 2 or 3 use.
