This is actually a brilliant creation. Catches the excess litter my cats seem to NNEED to toss over the litter box. It is very easy to put back into the litter box as well.1. When you get it - put it out in the sun to warm up and reshape as it comes folded up into a bag for shipping.2. Wish they made them a bit wider & longer. I have side by side large litter boxes for my cats and the mats are quite wide enough or long enough - even with 2 side by side. If they were about 6" wider & longer, they would be perfect.3. The waffle material on the top works great to catch stray litter. The solid material on the bottom is waterproof, so no accidental wetting from not getting our butt all the way in the box.Overall, I am VERY pleased!!!

PRO TIP TO UNFOLD: The mat comes folded and many people have complained that it's hard to get it to lay flat again. The company even sends a little flyer saying to place something heavy on the mat FOR FOUR DAYS to get it to flatten out again. Forget that! Just toss it in the tub with the hottest water you have and then dry it. My mat was perfectly flat and in it's final resting place within thirty minutes of receiving it.The main reason we got this mat is for our senior cat that has started to pee outside the litterbox. The great thing about this mat's two-layer design is you can slip a puppy pad inside of it to catch the pee. It keeps the cats from stepping in it, and it keeps my younger cat who is prone to viciously digging at anything in proximity to the litterbox from destroying the pad and getting pee smell all over his paws. It's great!As a bonus, it also does absolutely catch litter far better than any other mat we've ever had. It's just a design that makes sense. I've had to sweep far less since we've gotten it.It's very easy to clean, which I do fairly often because, again, it's getting peed on every day. I just toss it in the bathtub with hot water and detergent and then wipe it dry inside and out with a large rag. The foam itself is not only waterproof but seems actively hydrophobic, water beads on it, so it's very easy to dry. The PU leather along the edge doesn't dry quite as easily, seems to hold a bit of water. Whether that's cause the material itself is absorbing it or because it's trapping water in the seam, I have no idea. I usually just squeeze along the edges with the rag and put it down slightly damp, it dries on it's own pretty fast.Durability I would say is very good, although perhaps not quite enough for my purposes. The younger cat I mentioned before REALLY likes to dig. He has chronic constipation issues and whenever he's having a tough time in the potty he likes to dig to get out his frustration, and he's very, very persistent. I'd say for most people this mat is plenty durable. For us, it's started to show some very minor damage after only a couple weeks. We'll probably have to get a new one every six months or so, and we will, because it's still the best option out there.

Love this product and definitely can tell a huge difference in the amount of cat litter being tracked throughout. I have three cats and find myself cleaning scattered litter considerably less.

... one end should be closed so you could pick it up and carry it to where you would like to dispose of all the litter it's caught. It does stop the cat from carrying the litter through the house though. And that's what the description claims it will do. Excellent product

It’s ok. I wish only one side opened vs both. If you move the wrong way the litter spills oh the other side

The mat comes folded. It doesn't want to just stay flat. If you throw it in some hot water and let it soak a bit, then lay it outside flat to dry, I assume it will let go of the fold lines. I didn't bother. My cat really could not care less about the bumps. Neither do I.The mat is wonderful. It grabs all those little litter pieces stuck in his paws and keeps it off my hallway floor. Yeah, a few escape, but nothing like before.Clean up is a breeze. Pick up the mat, fold it in half, open the trash back, dump, and you're done. I do hose it off every few dumps just to make sure it doesn't start to smell. This is a wonderful convenience item that I am happy I purchased.

The old one I had before was that sortof fake stiff grassy kind of material (long blade, gray). When litter would get on there it would kindof clump up and be hard to get off.Litter slides right out of this one- much easier to clean.My newer cat sometimes #1's right on the mat (she's been outdoor til now), but it's easy to clean up and the floor is protected. (I'm switching to 'cat attract' to help with that).Meanwhile, my existing cat sometimes gets in the box but stays by the entrance and dribbles out a little bit. With the old mat i couldn't see exactly when this had happened, it just stayed clumped up there on the old mat (gross). This mat makes it more obvious and I can clean it right away.So between the two cats (2 boxes using same mat), I am constantly switching the mat in use while the other gets cleaned. This wasn't the intention but it's working out ok.Still training the cats, but the mats are great.My only complaints are that I thought the envelope style would be closed on one end, but it's open on both ends (maybe better this way? But unexpected), and that it doesn't lie flat right away as some others have mentioned.
