Edges are heavily distressed/sanded. Back is finished/painted, but does not come with hanging hardware. We do not paint the back of our signs unless requested. All of our signs are made to look rustic and have imperfections. There will be natural knots/markings in the wood, it just adds to the individual character of each sign so no two will never be exactly the same.
